Authors note: Hey everyone! sorry I keep saying "she said" or "he said" I love writing fanfic but I suck at grammar lol. I'll find ways, to try to word it more interesting I promise lol.

Dinner
Everyone greeted themselves into the royal dining room. Of course Varian sat next to Cassandra.

"Wow thank you for this lovely dinner" Rapunzel thanked the chefs. She smiled more than happy to start digging in.

"Yeah this is the best steak I've ever eaten! Is this medium rare?" Eugene asked delightfully.

Then the king replied, and everyone was enjoying themselves. Everyone expect for Cassandra that Is.

Cassandra couldn't help but feel so awkward during dinner. she thought "why would the king and queen want me here, after I practically shunned the whole kingdom" She just didn't get it, and she knew for a fact, that she didn't want to be Rapunzel's lady in waiting either.

Cassandra loved Rapunzel but, she wanted to be so much more than just a lady in waiting, but that's only how the kingdom viewed her isn't it? She wanted to feel important.

Varian grew concerned as he watched Cassandra spaced out. "Are you alright" He asked trying to be a good friend.

"I'm fine" Cassandra whispered. If anything the last thing she wanted was to attract attention onto herself. Especially not today after what she did.

"Oh yeah ok" Varian gave a reassuring smile.
He looked at her plate to see it filled with food. "Cass not to pry, but you should eat" Varian said worried. He noticed that she probably didn't want to be there. "Please for me" He added. Trying to be the most respectful he could be towards her.

She looked at Varian. He was giving her puppy dog eyes. Cassandra rolled her eyes, but she secretly liked it. "Ok happy?" She asked while taking a bite of her food being in a bitter mood.

All the sudden they were cut off from a noise.
They all turned their attention to the door. "What was that?" The king asked focusing his eyes at the door, now with everyone else. Everyone stood there quietly.

"It sounded like a scratch" Rapunzel trembled.

"Don't worry blondie, I will take care of this" Eugene stated proudly, trying to be heroic for his girlfriend. Eugene stood up and walked over to the direction of the noise. This time it was louder and bigger.

"AHHH" Eugene screamed.

Cassandra rolled her eyes.

The door flew open, and Rudiger jumped onto the table and ate Eugenes food.

"HEY" Eugene said offended now that his steak was gone. Rudiger snickered evilly.

Varian went into parental mode. "Rudiger no!" Varian commanded. Rudiger looked at him and stuck his tongue out. "Don't sass me young man" Varian disciplined. Rudiger jumped onto Cassandras shoulder.

"Here you can have my plate little guy" Cassandra said motioning her plate over to the little raccoon.

Lance ran into the room. "Where is he" Lance stuttered nervously. Lance met the eyes of the raccoon, smiling and waving at him as he ate Cassandras steak, enjoying every bite. Lance sighed. "I'm sorry Varian" he apologized.

Lance was looking over rudiger for Varian that day.

"Don't worry Lance" Varian assured. Trying to grab his raccoon, but failed as the raccoon hid behind Cassandra.

"I think Rudiger likes Cass" Rapunzel giggled. Cassandra couldn't help but give a little smile. Yes Varian annoyed her sometimes, but she still deep down inside loved him, and his pet raccoon rudiger.

"Why don't you and I spend some quality time" Cassandra said rubbing rudiger's head. she left the room with the raccoon on her shoulder.

"Wow cass showing a soft side, that's surprising" Eugene said shocked.

"I heard that" Cassandra called back.

Eugene rolled his eyes, then slightly smiled.

"Aw rudiger always seems to be so happy when he's hanging with Cass, so adorable" Lance empathized, pretending to wipe away a fake tear.

"You know what I heard" Rapunzel smirked. "Most pets focus a lot on what there owners focus on" Rapunzel said all smiley.

"You know now that I think about it, Rudiger does like being around my sister alot" Eugene stated.

They all looked at Varian smirking.

"That's just a coincidence" Varian laughed nervously. "I mean I don't like Cass what" Varian lied. His voice getting higher.

They all kept staring at him.

"What?" Varian asked them.

"Nothing" Rapunzel smirked.

"Ok then gotta go byeeeee" Varian ran out of the room avoiding confrontation. He went to go find Cass. It was an excuse to see her, because she did have his pet. He wondered where she could of been.

Cassandra was in her room. She would of been crying if Rudiger wasn't there. Cass hated being around people, but she was scared of the thought of being lonely. She gently stroked Rudiger's fur as he sat on her lap resting. He was definitely like a support animal to her, so was owl of course.

There was a slight knock on the door Cassandra looked up and saw Varian standing there with a comforting smile. "Hey you" Varian blushed.

"Hey" Cass greeted. "Sorry I just took Rudiger out of the blue like that, you can have him back" she remarked.

"No it's ok" Varian reassured. "he looks peaceful" he comforted.

They both looked down at the sleeping raccoon in Cassandra's lap. They stroked his fur watching him sleep in peace.
