Mono awoke in a patch of tall grass. He shot up in panic, which turned out to be a pretty bad idea. He stayed as still as he could while his head pulsed in pain.

The forest around him sounded alive-er than the last one he'd been in. He couldn't remember the details, everything past when he saved the basement girl was too blurry. Just from the lack of rotting smell, and general lack of deadness, he could tell he definitely wasn't in that creepy monster's forest.

Looking around the clearing he woke up in, and noticed the distinct lack of the girl he'd saved. He clutched his coat hating the uneasy feeling that was building.

The second his throbbing head calmed down, he slowly got up. As much as he wanted to dash around to look for his companion he knew he had to be careful.

He walked around where he had woken up. Calling out for the only sane person he'd seen in ages. He checked under the roots of trees, and under big clumps of bushes.

A frown hidden by his paper bag deepened as each attempt to find her failed. He looked around his surroundings with a new sense of urgency. He was alone, in a new place without any idea of the kinds of monsters that surely lurked in the forest. Not to mention the buzzing of static that usually led him to safety was gone.

Knowing that the girl was gone, and nowhere in sight. Mono set off in a random direction. He was light on his feet, wary of any traps. He didn't really feel like being snapped in half today- or any day really. But the monsters never really cared about that.

As Mono walked he noticed he was tiring a bit faster than usual. He had a feeling it had something to do with the head injury he'd gained somewhere. He found it slightly unfair; he didn't remember where he'd gained it.

He ignored it, walking for what felt like hours. When he was suddenly hit by a rancid smell. It was familiar, and he was filled with a horrible feeling as he stepped closer to investigate. He was met with the bodies of animals.

He stayed a fair distance away from them, but even then he could tell they had been slashed up. The cuts were too intentional to be from other animals. Either way, animal or not there was obviously another predator here. So he rushed away from the carnage and looked for a safe enough spot to stay.

The darkening of the forest almost seemed intentional, and while he knows the forest isn’t alive or anything it still filled his brain. Every step he took was filled with fear, and desperation. He almost cried in relief when he found a safe enough spot. The hollowed out tree was big enough for him, but not much else. So he climbed into the trees, sliding up against the side to further hide himself.
The tall oak tree hugged against his body that was uncomfortably shoved into the tree. While Mono knew his body would ache, there wasn’t really anything he could do about it. Luckily the aches he’d get, whether he’d sleep or not would just blend with the others already on his body.

He shivered as the sky darkened, and shut his eyes hoping for sleep. He eventually dozed off doing his best to ignore the groans and rattles that came from the night. He’d find out where those voices came from later, since he was going to survive here.

The night passed on as the ‘predator’ of the forest slept peacefully on his bed a nation away. Unaware of the boy in the- no unaware of the boy in his server. Not that far away a blonde boy slept uneasily, his thin sheets not enough to fight the chill of the coast.
