The sun barely shines through the small entrance to Mono’s makeshift base. But it’s enough light to snap him out of his trance. He sighs when he sluggishly turns his head to the morning light. As much as his body aches he doesn’t want to leave his curled up position.

He feels all itchy, and there’s a feeling in his chest he can’t describe. It just feels heavy, it's an unbearable feeling he doesn’t want to deal with. He sits there curled up in the dark, and with nothing on his mind he can’t help but think. It feels worse to think of how he got here, because he doesn’t have answers for everything strange that’s happened. Begrudgingly he uncurls himself, and slowly crawls out of the dirt hole.

The sun shines down on him as he stands up, and his back twinges in pain. He takes his time to stretch, and ignores the aches as best as he can. He looks around him fully taking in his surroundings this time. The first thing he notices is that the monsters are gone, and that heavy feeling inside him lessens. They’re fully gone with no sign of how they could’ve disappeared. He thinks back to how they had stopped their chase when he got close to lights, and figures the sun currently in the sky might have something to do with the monsters' disappearances.

He’d just have to be careful at night time then. He’ll stay near the lights and hide himself just in case the lights turn out to not be enough.

With a slightly brighter mood and plan for safety he starts to pace the area around his base. Edging further away from it each time. He finds some pretty flowers and cool spotty trees, but nothing he could eat or drink. Well he could eat the flowers maybe if he got desperate, but he’d rather not. He’s seen some crawly bugs around here too, and cringes the second his brain comes up with the idea to eat them. His body shudders even after the idea leaves his thoughts, and he feels like bugs are crawling over him. Even if they aren’t.

There’s only so much distance to travel until he’s close to one of the light sources that led him here. He can hear the faint voice of someone, or at least he thinks he can. The sounds of crashing water are much louder than whoever he hears hints of. The crashing water cruelly reminds him of how thirsty he’s been, and he munches on the last of his berries to distract himself from it. The faint voice however brings him excitement and dread in equal amounts, and maybe just a tiny bit of hope as well. Maybe they’d be normal for once like him.

He carefully ventures further making sure to keep low to the ground and to stay in the shadows. The trees thinned to the point that he could see through them, and he was greeted with a surprisingly neat place. There were only two structures he could see from his spot. The nearest was a place surrounded by logs. He couldn’t actually see inside from his spot which was a bit disappointing.

He saw a weird looking black box, and a worn tent a bit further away from the only other building here. He couldn’t see anyone here though, but seeing as it was a pretty worn down place he was sure there were people living here still.

His theory was proven right as he heard a frustrated shout from nearby. He stumbled a bit before looking around for a more hidden spot. He didn’t want to take any chances after what happened last night. He found a tree not too far with a decent amount of leaves. One of the branches was close enough to the ground that he was able to cling to it. His feet dangled and he kicked the main part of the tree trying to get enough momentum to swing his feet up. After a few attempts he was successful. He climbed up higher, gripping the bark, and using footholders when he could. He rushed getting up, so he really hoped he didn’t get any splinters.
He sat on the nearest branch not wanting to waste any more effort. He layed down on his stomach, and was careful to keep his balance.

He grumbled at the discomfort in his hands, and stomach. He really didn’t like to climb trees, but they were useful at times. He only really climbed them to watch the things around him. It was interesting to see how everything reacted when he wasn’t there. It could be sad at times too, mostly when he realized nothing had changed.
