Mono walked for what felt like hours, not stopping until he was halfway sure he was in the general area of the explosions. He felt pretty confused when he saw nothing of much importance as he got closer to the sounds. There hadn't even been any traps, or anything dangerous other than that one spider he'd seen.

For some reason that made him more wary, but so far luckily nothing too bad had happened. All the bad things he'd seen so far had been rotting, and generally seemed to be done a while ago. But he knew from experience that it wasn't a good idea to assume.

He was filled with a sudden remembrance of the other forest. The other forest had housed a bad guy he hadn't even been aware of until he'd seen him clearing his traps one day. He couldn't remember the man clearly, but he had remembered vividly the catch he'd collected. A poor unfortunate kid that had gotten stuck in a bear trap. Luckily or unluckily the kid had been dead by the time he'd gotten there. Sometimes he wondered if he could've saved them, had he appeared sooner; but he was just glad he hadn't been there to watch their eyes dull. That day had been the day he knew a monster existed in the forest. Up until that day he had naively hoped that that forest wouldn't be the same as the other place he'd come from.

It had been a dangerous place at times, and while he had lived there for a decent amount of time he'd been wary. Always thinking the monster knew he'd been there. Not to mention he'd been lonely. He was used to being lonely with others around him, so going from that to having corpses for company felt wrong.

The buzz that had suddenly been a part of him ever since he escaped there had only gotten worse in his isolation. It pulled at his head, and he quickly found out it hurt a lot more when he left his trusty bag off. It was ironic in a way that the day he'd decided to leave, he'd been witness to a kidnapping.

The catch the man had collected had been alive. Struggling with all their might, Mono found himself stuck in place with shock and fear. That had been the first kid he'd found alive. There was someone else here other than him. He wasn't alone here, but he would be if he let them get taken.

He shook as he tried to hide himself more clearly. Tucking himself closer to the tree branch. Any courage he might've had was taken away when he thought about the monster below him. Just as he was about to shut himself off, and ignore and ignore-

He made eye contact, and a sense of horrible shame filled him as the other looked to him with desperation. He had been left feeling numb when they were dragged away. And a dangerous thought had clouded his thoughts.

That could've been him. It could've- no stop.

Mono shook his head, his bag crinkling with the movement. He really shouldn't be thinking of that right now, seeing as the sun was already...starting to set? He must've zoned out again, which wasn't really safe. He frowned from underneath his bag already looking for shelter. He noticed a distant source of light not too far away. It seemed manmade and he, against logical reason, wanted to investigate.

He could always run if it got bad after all, and as long as he was careful he could observe without any consequence. He nodded to himself going over his plans inside his head. He would just stick to the darker spots, and stay low. He stepped out of the trees already feeling like there were eyes on him, even though the chances of that were low.

He clutched his coat tighter crouching down to the ground. He walked across at a brisk pace, ducking into the shadows and lone trees. The sky was getting darker to the point where he almost couldn't see in front of him. He heard some rustles and groans not too far from him, and rushed to make it to the trees surrounding the light. He was right to rush as the groans behind him seemed to pin point him. Before he knew it something was chasing him.

He chances a glance behind him, paling when he sees a rotting corpse behind him. He slightly stumbles before righting his balance. He'd been expecting monsters of some kind, but seeing an alive-ish corpse hadn't been what he was expecting. The corpse lunges for him and he stands up. Throwing all caution to the wind he bolts.

The corpse behind him is slower now that he's running. With the treeline so close to him he can only hear his thudding heartbeat. He barely makes note of the sound of clicking bones. Nor does he notice the draw of a bow.

The arrow releases with a whoosh that goes unheard, the resounding thud of arrow meeting the ground however? Does not go unnoticed.

Mono takes a glance at the arrow dangerously close to him, and looks to the direction the arrow came from. His eyes meet the empty sockets of a skeleton. That against all odds should be dead. He's starting to get concerned..will he have to keep an eye out for the dead here?

As the skeleton draws back his bow once again he sprints to the trees. Sliding behind the first one he sees. Another arrow thunks into the wood behind him. His breathing comes out erratically from behind his mask.

He runs further into the trees, tripping on some uneven slightly holey ground at times. He makes it closer to the light. The groans and arrows whooshing past lessen the closer he gets to the lights. He shivers under his coat and looks for shelter of any kind. He keeps his eyes low, not feeling confident he wouldn't get shot down.

He finds a slight open space underneath a mini cliff. The space itself was small, but there was just enough space for him to tuck himself in safely. He fidgeted from his spot, eyeing the entrance constantly for any monsters. Without his permission a few years fell from his eyes. He muffled the choked sobs that escaped his mouth.

His body shook at any thought of venturing during the night. He couldn't bring himself to observe the lights, or search for any structures nearby. He'd- he'd do it later. Sometimes later when it's safer. He gradually went limp due to exhaustion never quite calming down, and against his will passed out.

A blonde huddles nearby in his tent clutching his worn blanket around him in discomfort.
