Mono for once wakes up without a weird dream, and it leaves him feeling strangely calm. He’s still in an unknown place, but when he thinks about it with a clearer head; most places he’s been in have been unknown. Even the places he used to know were different from what he knew. It’s sad when you think about it, so he doesn’t.

He peeks out of his hiding place. Seeing that it’s early enough that it’s still a bit dark he stays still. His stomach grumbles and he lets out a groan. Right- he’s going to have to find food and water again. He figured out the hunters' forest a bit when he camped out there. It was mostly guess and check work. He didn’t feel that good sometimes, and he made sure to keep track of what he could eat. He wasn’t looking forward to starting over again though.

He stayed still for what felt like hours, but had probably only been thirty minutes at max. He was anxiously tapping his fingers, and feet as he waited, completely bored. His back was starting to ache from the position it was in, so he sighed and started to crawl out.

He looked around seeing that the forest was the same as last night. There weren’t any surprise changes, but he was still worried about those noises he heard at night. He just- wouldn’t go outside at night for now. He looks around before finding a big enough stick that could be useful. When he picks it up he’s reminded slightly of the kid-sized traps in the other forest, but he has a feeling there aren’t many traps here. He still keeps the stick anyway.

He looks around after marking his spot. He should probably find water first.. problem is he doesn’t really know if he heard any streams nearby. He shrugged, twisting a frayed string from his coat. He’d pick a random direction and go from there. He set out walking, not having to prepare seeing as he had nothing.

He walked over dew dropped terrain, and the water felt kinda nice on his feet. He skipped a few times swinging his stick out halfheartedly. He quieted down when he came upon what seemed to be a berry bush. He observed it and noticed it seemed to be eaten from. He picked multiple handfuls of berries sticking most of them in his coat pocket. His form was tense as he looked over the rest of the berries in his hands. His hunger won in the end and he ate the few left in his hand. Hopefully he wouldn’t regret that.

He turned around ready for his explorations to end for the day, but just as he turned around he heard an eerie hiss. Coming face to face with a huge black spider. It’s red eyes blinked at him simultaneously.

His face paled underneath his bag, the beginning of a scream was quickly smothered. The black spider half his size slowly made it’s way towards him. There was a persistent clicking noise that came from the beast's fangs. If Mono had been more focused he would’ve noticed it didn’t seem to be attacking him. But with how scrambled his thoughts were he didn’t notice. He dashed away without much thought of where he was going.

He scrambled over upturned roots, trying to not trip over them. He did his best to avoid bushes but at times he dove through them. He hated his luck. There were a lot of things he was afraid of, but spiders had always been on top of the list. Second on the list were guns for some reason… he was sorta confused about that. He couldn’t remember ever running into someone using them, but it was odd that he remembered the sounds certain ones made.

He’d question that more later. He looked over his shoulders expecting to see the monster. He was surprised when he saw no trace of them, but still warily looked around him. His breathing evened out when he realized it was gone. He was relieved when he realized he wouldn’t have to worry about being eaten. Well- he’d still have to keep an eye out for other monsters like that. He tensed as his brain immediately brought up his memories of the slaughtered animals. He clenched his bag, the paper wrinkling due to the tight grip.

He took a deep breath before slowly releasing it. He’d have to keep an eye out for whatever did that. He wondered if any of the movements he had heard last night had anything to do with those animals. He shivered, grateful that he’d curbed his curiosity when it came to creepy noises lurking in the darkness.

He looked around the area he’d run to. He noticed that the forest was thinner here than before, and that there was a far away sound of crashing waves. Though he could barely hear them. He let out a groan when he realized he’d have to either find his way back to his tree, or change camps. He slumped forward when he realized it’d be better to find a new place. With a resigned sigh he set off to find anything useful. He kept an eye out for any trees he could climb, or hide in.

A decent amount of time had passed without any progress, and he was starting to rush to find a safe place. He was taking a quick break munching on some of the leftover berries. When there was a sudden explosion near him.

He jumped at the sound, and instinctively covered his ears. He turned to where the sounds came from only to jump again once a delayed explosion went off. He held his hands to his ears for a while longer before he realized the explosions were.. probably over. Underneath his bag his face went through an array of emotions.

He was scared of what that sound meant, or more accurately he was scared of what it could mean. But he was curious too. A part of him wanted to know what he was dealing with. While the other part of him wondered if he could get away with staying in one part of the forest. The midday sun's rays blared down on him while he thought to himself.

A short amount of time passed before he cautiously walked forward. Without the buzz in his head to pull him back on track he was free to do as he pleased. Whether that was a bad thing or not Mono had no idea.
