"Ayanokouji, why do you like me?"
"..."
"...Hm?"
"You seriously don't get it? It's a simple question. Tell me what you like in me." Ibuki said, adjusting her position slightly to the left.
What to say...what to say...
Millions of answers seem viable, but they're all so basic. "The color of your eyes", "Your personality", all things she's probably heard before.
So as much as I hesitate doing it, I'll answer from the heart. Whatever comes out of my mouth is what she'll get.
"I think...the thing I like most isn't your looks, nor personality. It's how I affect you as a person is what I look for," I said, her signaling for me to go on.
"Like the way you've tried changing your hairstyle in subtle ways to see if I'd notice, or the how motivated you get whenever I'm watching you lift a higher weight than before. Every time I tell you that you did something wrong during our boxing sessions, you come at me with twice the aggression you had before," I said, smiling to myself.
"Ibuki, the reason I like you is because I feel important to you. Whenever you're around me, I feel like you and I can do whatever we dream to do. And that's great." I said, holding her hands.
"Wow...that was a beautiful speech. Almost brought a tear to my eye," Ibuki said, wiping her eyes with invisible tissues.
"How about a quick visit to the gym? I've strangely had the urge to hop in the ring," she said, getting up from the couch. "You coming?"
I could feel warmth rise to my face.
"Sure, Ibuki."

After a long gym session, Ibuki and I laid in the ring, exhausted."Dude...have you been training without me? You're a lot stronger than last time," Ibuki stated. It was true, recently Ibuki has been pushing me quite a bit. Her kicks were already nothing to joke about, but now she has both that and her upper body strength, which makes her quite the foe.
I could feel my muscles slowly growing day by day, and my endurance becoming a lot better.
"Same for you, your kicks are deadly man," I said, the pain of every spot she kicked me in coming back to me. Those "spots" included my balls, by the way. I doubt I'm gonna have kids in the future.
"Heh, I'm just the best." Ibuki proudly said, lightly hitting herself on the chest.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. Anyways, let's do something else. We've got the whole day after all," I suggested, getting up from the sweat covered floor. "Maybe the movies?"
"Nah, too far. Plus why spend all of that money..." Ibuki said, grabbing her phone from her pocket. "...When we can watch it at home?" A smirk appeared on her face as she made her way to the locker room. "You've got 10 minutes before I leave ya."
I hurriedly made my way to the locker room, excited for the night ahead of us.
***
We arrived at Ibuki's dorm, back where we started. She went first, turning on the lights and heading straight for the kitchen. "I'll make popcorn, you pick the movie, alright?" I nodded, and sat on the couch.
This right here was the most important decision of the night, and would make or break this sudden date.
Ibuki had 5 genres for me to pick from: Romance, Horror, Comedy, Action, or Adventure. Each genre had it's own section, labelled and all.
I considered my options. Romance would set the mood, but depending on how Ibuki is feeling, that could lead to very, very bad things. Horror is nice, but I'd rather not sleep next to a shivering girl. Comedy doesn't work for me, since it's always cliché and doesn't really change from movie to movie.
Which leaves us with two, Action and Adventure. They're two very similar genres, and basically go hand in hand. However, Action can be very different from Adventure in some cases. Action is usually used for fight scenes, parkour, basically anything intense. Meanwhile, Adventure could be just a long journey, or maybe a quick visit to the woods. In short, Action is more intense than Adventure, which can be mellowed out most of the time.
Would Ibuki want a stereotypical action movie? I feel like she has better standards than that...maybe I'll just go with an adventure movie-
"Are you having a crisis over there? You're sweating," Ibuki said, walking over to me. She picked out an adventure movie, and sat down, popcorn in hand. Was all my struggle...for nothing?!
"Hurry up, the popcorn's gonna get cold." she said, beckoning me over to the couch. I sluggishly got up, sliding my feet across the carpet.
I plopped down on the leather couch, staring at the TV. Ibuki lifted up the remote, and the movie began playing....
