Oscar ran around like crazy, his blonde hair flying all over the place. It was a nightmare tidying up after a 2 year old, although this was one of the good days where he had only been playing with his train set.

"Spence!" Lana screeched, walking towards the living room.

"Yes?" I raised my eyebrows at her.

"The bills for the flat need to be paid by Friday, and I need your half before then," Bills. The worst part of each month not including the time of month that is.

"Lana I don't know if I can get the money for this month, my boss is barely letting me have a 5 pound raise for an extra 2 hour shift let alone £5 raise for each hour?" I stuck my bottom lip out in hope that Lana would pity on me and would lend me the money for this months payment. I had tried emailing my boss asking for a raise but never got a reply.

"Fine! Fine. I'll do it just promise me that you will find a new job or somehow earn more money? Also my parents are in Venice for their anniversary so they won't be around for your birthday," Lana's parents were rich and treated me like a second daughter.

"Okay, I'll try, and oh well, I'll ring them. Can you ask James if he will fix the door on my wardrobe?" I pleaded .

"Spencer, James is my boyfriend I want to spend time with him you know? But because I'm the bestest friend ever I'll text him and tell him to come over."

I ran and gave Lana a hug before running out to work.

I worked as a waitress at a bar which wasn't too popular, it sold cheap drinks which meant mostly old scrawny men went there, but for now it was the only option I had. It benefitted me a lot since it was two blocks down from our flat and it was a ten minute walk which was easily done.

I walked into the bar, smelling the familiar scent of alcohol. I wasn't the type to drink alcohol regularly, only on special occasions, mainly because I was a light weight. A few co workers drank some of the liquor out back, but the boss never caught them, he was never around. Not many people had seen the boss before, he was always supposedly abroad.

I grabbed the apron from behind the hook and pinned my hair back, Rick, the guy who was meant to beworking behind the bar with me, came running in the door late and quickly got behind the bar.

"Is he here? Does he know I'm late?" Rick sounded anxious.

"What? Is who here? And how come your sober, your normally half an hour late bragging about your one night stand whilst slurring your words," I scoffed.

"The guy who owns this place, he died a couple weeks ago, his sons come to take over," Rick whispered.

"Wait? So we have a new boss?" I asked for conformation.

"Yep, and rumour has it he's interviewing us again so he can up the standards of this place," Rick frantically polished the counters ready to serve in 10 minutes when punters would come.

"And if we'd be keeping our jobs we'd most likely be getting higher wages right?" I looked over to Rick who nodded.

This was my chance to be able to help Lana with the bills, maybe I could even buy a car, so I could actually go out with people?

It was 5 minutes until we opened and I was ready to show the new boss that he should be keeping me as a waitress.
