I was here on the dot like he told me to be.
I had picked out some skinny dark navy jeans, and a blue shirt which I had tucked in, hopefully it would be suitable to Mr Stewart and make him want to carry on with me as a waitress.
"Miss Wallace, I knew you'd be on time." Jack came through the door with a clipboard in hand, "follow me."
I followed him to the back room where the old boss' office was. The office was very wooden, it had wooden bookcases covering the walls, the desk was situated in the middle which was also wooden. On the desk was pictures of the Stewart family, there was a particular picture of Jack, with another girl, they looked a similar age, her hair was golden and she had dimples like Jack that were indented into her cheeks.
"Nancy, my sister." Jack gazed at me as I stared at the pictures.
"She's beautiful." I wasn't lying, she really was.
"She's just graduated, she's currently in New Zealand travelling." Jack smiled to himself, clearly proud of his sister.
I sat down at the chair in front of the desk and took a deep breathe in, trying to relax my mind. Jack took a seat behind the desk and scattered several forms on the surface, his hands trailed around the papers before he found the right one.
"So Spencer, what do you bring to the job?" Jack questioned.
"I bring liveliness, I don't bring any problems, I get to know customers so they become more regular." I answered in confidence.
"Ok good. Why should I keep you on?"
"Well my parents left me when I became out of hand, I haven't spoken to them for 4 years. And I just really need this, this job means a lot to me." I pleaded. Jack looked down at his work and cleared his throat.
"This job isn't being given away to teenage girls who are having problems with their family, it's being given to real people with real skill. I want waitress' who have these jobs because they're good at what they do, understand?" Jack's tone of voice had gone serious.
"Yes. I understand." I considered arguing and defending myself but I came to realise it'd make my chances of getting the job even smaller.
"Now I've seen what your like at work, and i have seen everyone else, I must admit you are one of the best waitress' out of all the ones that work here. But that doesn't mean I can't hire a better one. Now tell me those two men, what would you have done if they tried harming you?" His eyes narrowed as he waited for a reply.
"I...err," I hesitated a minute before giving a proper answer, "I would've defended myself without harming them and called out for help, or I would've took you up on the offer of assistance."
"Thank you Miss Wallace, I will be in touch." Jack stood from his seat.
"Don't you have any more questions, there's still 10 minutes left until my shift?" I was confused as to why the interview was so short.
"I've found out everything I need to know, and I'm now dismissing you, goodbye Miss Wallace." Then came back the Jack I had met, a smirk grew across his face. He shook my hand before sitting back down.
As I walked out the room a tall man with tanned skin came towards me. His chestnut eyes examined me before he smiled.
"Liam, I'm one of the new waitors." Liam smiled again, his hand brushed through his silk hair before stretching it out, letting his hair fall perfectly into place.
"Spencer, hopefully still a waitress." I giggled, Liam smiled.
"Is he giving you a tough time?" Liam pointed towards the door in which Jack was behind.
"Just a little, teens with family dramas never look good on a CV." I shrugged.
"Jack isn't the sympathetic type, to be honest Jack isn't one of those to care about anything. His parents separating made him become one thing but as soon as his dad passed away he turned into an ignorant bastard. People seem to forget he's only young although this isn't his first time running a business. Lucky yet spoilt." Liam shook his head smiling.
"Mr Martin, I'm hoping I'd be wrong to think you were flirting with one of the waitress'." Jack smiled at me, revealing I had the job.
"I've got the job? Don't you need more time to figure this out?" I thought to myself why I wasn't just thanking him and carrying on.
"I'm an impatient person, so no I don't need time." Jack walked past Liam and I, patting Liam on the way.
"Congratulations? I'll see you around, Spencer." Liam followed after Jack.
