"Ogghhh. Do we have to do our nails and makeup now," I groan. "If you want to watch most of the Final Destination series you do!" Leanne laughs. Her idea of fun is the opposite to mine. Leanne's is nails, makeup, romantic movies and gossip- where mine is comedy and horror movies, playing dare games and eating so many sweets that we struggle to walk for the next few days. I wish the sleepover could be like that. "Fine then," I sigh, "but you're not doing my makeup. There's no point, we should just do it tomorow before we go shopping." "Okay, but we're still doing our nails! Could you help me with this box?" I manoveur next to Leanne and help drag a large box from under her bed. I've never seen so much nail polish in my life! "Right. I've got plenty of base coats, top coats, gel manicures, metallic special effects polish and wands, nail wraps and nail stickers to choose from. Help yourself!" Leanne gestures to the box. Whoah, that was a mouthful! This girl knows more about nail varnish than I know about Final Destination- and trust me; I've watched them all about a thousand times. I think Leanne can tell by my expression what I'm thinking. "I know, I know a lot about nail varnish- but that just means that you'll have better nails!" Leanne laughs. After about 20 seconds silence, Leanne says "you can pick some, you know, or do you want me to choose for you?" I suddenly jerk out my daze and look through the colours. I quickly select a turquoise and amethyst mineral crush varnish. It seems like a nice varnish seeing as though I picked it up in like 10 seconds. "Oogh, good choice. That stuff's as thick as a bulldozer though. It stays on for weeks!" Leanne says. She looks at my expression and laughs. I don't know whether it's a good or bad thing that the varnish lasts for a while. But nevertheless, I allow Leanne to carefully paint my nails; my thumbs turquoise and my fore-fingers amethyst in a one-then- the-other pattern. She's done within a few minutes, and takes my hand to dry in a nail drying machine. They look better than I thought they would. The nail varnish has a lovely glittery effect and is in beautiful colors. "Do you like it? They suit you," Leanne smiles, looking pleased. "Yeah, I actually really like them!" I laugh. "You've made my day!" Leanne giggles, her face lit up. "Now my turn." Leanne holds out a turquoise varnish and a gold glitter varnish. My face drops. "W...why are you handing me these?" I stummer. "Because you're going to do my nails!" Gosh, she's forceful. "You've really got that much faith in me, huh? Have you banged your head?" I manage a laugh. "Yes, I have faith in you. And nope, I haven't banged my head- but you'll end up with one if you don't do my nails soon." She looks dead serious for a minute, but when she sees my worried expression, she bursts into laughter. I twist open the turquoise varnish and slowly apply a thick coat of it on her fingernails. On the first nail, I was trembling so much that I got it all over her skin, but I started getting better at it as I painted more nails. I'd still give them a 1/10 though for neatness. I wait for them to dry, and then apply a few strokes of the glitter as a 2nd coat and spread it out evenly. They look nice- only if there wasn't smeared varnish on her skin. But luckily, Leanne hands me a special corrector pen to fix it up. I try to read her face. "Not bad for a first try- actually, not bad at all." A weight lifts from my stomach. I can finally breath again. My stomach has felt like it's been up in flames for the last 10 minutes. "You know, if I didn't have that corrector pen you would of ended up with a banged head!" We both laugh. How good it feels to laugh again.
. . . ."Time for the 4th movie!" We've already went through the last 3 Final Destination films in a blink of the eye. Apparently Leanne doesn't think so. I hear a faint snore, and look to the right and see Leanne sleeping. If only she could see her face now! I grab my phone, but as soon as I do, Leanne turns on her front. I mutter a swear under my breath. I'm starting to get really tired now, and struggle to keep my eyes from closing. But I keep on telling myself to stay awake, at least for another hour. The last thing I want to do is have a nightmare and spoil Leanne's fun. I glance at the alarm clock. More like stare at it. 5...no 4.. 28....38...04:38. My eyes are so sleepy that it takes me a few minutes to read it properly. If I can manage to stay awake for another few films then it will be time to get ready for shopping. But I have to sleep. Suddenly tiredness takes over me and I can't see a thing..
. . . .I wake up. I turn my head, and see they a girl has replaced Leanne. She looks similar to me; auburn hair, browny green eyes, rosy lips and checks with a few freckles here and there. She's really pretty, (if I say so myself). She's awake, only because there's a dark figure shooting for her in the room. "Grace, Grace wake up!" I hear a gentle mature voice call. Grace hesitantly gets out of bed. I'm completely oblivious to her. "Grace, now!" "I'm coming!" She shouts. I follow her path. She slips a cost on and rushes downstairs, putting her shoes on at the same time. Down the stairs I see a tall, muscular man carrying a few bags with a backback slung over his shoulder. He runs out of the door. I hear a click as the boot of the car swings open. Soon the man comes back, and picks up some more bags from the hallway. The lady that shouted for Grace hurries to help him. I presume they're Grace's parents. I notice a little cute boy that looks about 7 at the bottom of the stairs, crying in muffled sobs; wondering what's going on. I'm as confused as he is. "Grace, Leo, quickly get in the car. We'll be with you in a minute," the man says hurriedly. "What's going on?" Grace asks. "There's no time for questions, now get in the car!" the man shouts. Grace grabs Leo's hand and takes him to the for. I follow them, not knowing what to do neither what's going on. Grace opens the car door and straps Leo in his car seat. I wait until Grace gets in the other side and hop into the middle seat. The lady comes in and shoves bags on top of me. I don't know why nobody notices me. And where is Leanne's family? I hear the car boot close behind me, and see the man get in the driving seat with the lady in the passenger seat. He quickly starts the engine and reverses the car out of the drive. The lady gets out a map from the pocket behind her seat and studies it carefully. "We need to get to high ground, and quickly," the man says. "Should we go to the Cairngorm's? It's the closest mountain range I can think of," the lady asks, "It's about 45 minutes away." "We don't have that much time!" the man shouts, sighing. "We could go to that mountain range about 15 minutes away. It's not as high but it should be high enough." "We've got about 20 minutes to impact. It will have to do," the man says, "Hopefully we can climb to higher ground in time." We travel in silence. At times the man asks the lady for directions, but apart from that, there's only the sound of racing car engines to hear. The roads are so busy, it feels like it's the end of the world- maybe it is. Everyone's driving past the speed limit; at least 80 miles an hour. I see a car on its side off the road. I'm not that surprised- there's bound to be an accident with this many cats traveling this fast. After about 10 minutes from driving, I see a ton of cars at odd angles ahead of us, all parked. We stop, get out the car, and walk to the side of the road. There's a long snake of hundreds of cars ahead of us, maybe even thousands. I hear a swear coming from the man, and sobs coming from the last. "What's happening mammy, daddy?" Leo cries. "It's okay darling, we'll be fine," the lady assures. She manages a smile. "If we don't get past these cars we won't be!" the man mutters. I see the lady nudge him. "I'm going to try to drive alongside the road, and get around these cars." "Are you crazy? There's a river on both sides of this road for ages. You'll never get around it!" The lady shouts. "Well, we'll never get there in time if we swim there, will we?" The man shouts back. Then they both squeeze each others hand, and hug the kids in a family circle. "We're too late, it's coming," the man says, crying. "We love you very much, and we always will!" The lady says. "What's happening?!" Screams Grace as Leo cries. But she soon finds out. The ground shakes, and a big blast off the impact pushes us off our feet. Then a rumble comes from the distance, and I hear a smashing sound, like buildings getting crushed and falling down. I turn around and see a wave so big it's as tall as The Eiffel Tower. I stand there, with my feet glued to the ground. The wave rushes towards me. I feel an emotional, scared rush of fear, and then nothing....
