I open my eyes. I squint, whilst looking around me. I try to get up, but I feel an arm securing me tight. I turn around, and see my dad hugging me. I hear faint snores coming from his direction. Mum's already up making breakfast. As she hears me stir she rushes through to the living room. "How are you sweetie, you look much better this morning," mum smiles. "I feel better too, I think I need a shower though!" Mum laughs. After all that sweating it's kind of obvious I would. "Well, I've made your favourite, crumpets! Do you want to come and sit at the table with me?" "Of course! But my chest still hurts a bit though," I explain. "No problem, I'll help you. Best not to wake dad up too!"mum laughs. I groan as mum helps me up off the coach. We make our way slowly to the dining table.
When I've finally sat down and have finished my crumpets, mum asks about what happened last night. Mum's very nosy like that. "Darling, I was just wondering what happened last night," she said wearily. "You don't have to tell me, but I can't help you if you won't." I don't know whether I should tell her. I know she's just worried and trying to help, but I don't want her to worry, but then again I do need help. But if I tell her the truth she'll think that there's something wrong with me. I'm 18 and am still having childish nightmares, yet they seem so real. It's as if the nightmares are happening to me. Mum stares at me, waiting for an answer hopefully. "E-mmm. It's just a dream. It's nothing to worry about," I stummer. "Really, is it just a dream where you wake up sweating and screaming in the middle of the night, and then faint from anxiety?" Mum stated sarcastically. "E-yeah, I guess. You've got a point though," I mumble. "You're starting to have those nightmares again, aren't you?" mum said quizically. I had to tell her. "I think so, but they're just nightmares mum, they're very common!" "I'll be the judge of that. But you haven't had one in ages! Would you at least tell me what the dream was about?" Reluctanty, I telll her. It could actually turn out to be serious. "Well, I was with my family," I stummer, "and this boy that seems so familiar. It's like I've known him all my life, I know nearly everything about him, yet I don't know where or how." Mum interrupts me. "You do know this is a dream. He's not real you know!" Mum says. "I know, but it seems so real though. Just wait until I tell you the rest of the story." I wait until she's listening. "and then a massive meteor hits earth, bigger than Mount Everest! It was on the news and everything. Of course a big impact like that would wipe out nearly the entire world! And then cracks in the earth splitted open, and a tsunami that wiped everything in its path, (even mountains), came. The ground shook so hard that skyscrapers fell down. Most people died just from the impact and shockwave, not the series of unfortunate events that followed after that. We clang on to each other for dear life, screaming, crying, and as the wave was about to hit us, the dream ended.... What do you think?" Mum paused, taking it all in. "I think you've got a very good imagination," mum stated. "Mum, you're not helping! You don't understand. I have to to something about it. As you said yourself, I woke up sweating and screaming in the middle of the night, and then fainted. I'm 18, and stuff like that shouldn't be happening to me at my age," I shout, feeling a rush of anger run through me. "I guess you're right. The only way to solve this is to take you for a trip to the doctor's", mum sighed. "Mum, no!" I shout. "How are they going to help? Give me magic pills to make me dream of happy fluffy bunnies?" "Hannah! Doctor's and pyshcologists are trained specialists, and will help you more than we can help you! Grow some respect. All they will do is help you stop having these nightmares, and all you'll have to do is attend monthly appointments depending on how you progress," mum said. " I know what they'll do mum! But could you just wait for another few weeks, please. Remember, it's the first time I've had one in years," I begged. Mum paused thoughtfully. "Fine, I'll see how you are. But if this doesn't stop, you'll have to take some time off college." "Thanks, ok mum," I say sadly. At least I get some time to sort my dilemma out. I really don't want to miss college! "Anyway, in the meantime, you need to prepare for your sleepover tonight!" Mum saud excitedly. I forgot all about it. "I'm going to have a shower," I shout, as I head to the door. "Okay, sweetie. After that, remember to pack your bag for the sleepover!" mum shouts. I shout an "Okay" back. As I get undressed for my shower, I can't help thinking about my dream, and if it will happen to me again tonight....
