Earth's Orbit, Outer Space...
Two Weeks After Fireteam Flaw's Victory...
4:07 am...
River POV:
"Get your damn feet off of the leather."
I walked by Paige and pushed his legs off of the chair. He threw his hands in the air and was about to stand up to protest, but he tripped and fell backwards.
Dakota: "Dumbass" he shook his head as he grinded two chromatic knives together, sparks flew from the blades and hit the metallic floor.
Paige: "Listen buddy..."
Everyone in the room stopped what they were occupied with and stared at him as he pointed at us from the ground.
Paige: "...... pass the pretzels."
Ford: "Dude, just get up and get it yourself."
Paige: "No."
Ford: "Why not?"
Paige: "Because I am approximately seven feet away from the bowl and if you do the math it adds up to: do it for me."
Ford sighed loudly and detached the barrel of Suros and cleaned it with a cloth.
Paige slumped his shoulders and trudged his way across the room towards the bowl of Pretzels.
"Asher, you there?"
My ghost expanded into an orb in front of me and the familiar accent of the Hunter came through clearly.
Asher: "Yeah I'm here."
"How's the situation with the Dreaming City?"
Asher: "Do you want the bad news or the worse news?"
"That grim?"
Asher: "That grim" he said confirming my question.
Paige grabbed the bowl of Pretzels and dumped them on top of Dakota's head as he walked by.
"Well let's hear the bad news first." I sighed.
Asher: "Mara and the Vanguard are having trouble getting along and I'm not talking about schoolyard argument. Ikora and Mara have been pointing fingers at each other all day. I overheard Mara yelling into the Wayfinder about who was to be blamed for Crow's mistreatment."
Asher: "And the latter?"
Asher: "Xivu Arath's forces have started to puncture the barrier protecting the city, but recently their attacks have become lighter. Drake and I are working with Petra to defend the Blind Well, and It's been oddly easy so far."
I furrowed my brow in thought.
Ford: "Good to know you're still the most optimistic person in our fireteam." He said sarcastically.
Asher: "River is with you right now."
"Anything else I should know about?"
Asher: "Not really, but it would be nice if you guys can finish up. I'm not sure when Xivu plans to attack but I feel like it'll be soon."
"Don't worry, we'll be done within a two day mark. We'll see you back at the Dreaming City."
Asher: "Good luck."
The line flickered and died and everyone went back to their idle activities. I walked over to a plush couch and sunk into it. I moved my hand over to my left, but the bag of chips I had placed there earlier had disappeared. I opened my eyes to an obnoxiously loud crunching sound from the other side of the room. Of course Paige had grabbed my bag and started to devour it.
