Eva opened the door to check on her patient. She was glad because the man was already wide awake. She went near him when he gave her a genuine smile.

"Hey dear, it was you who helped me there right?" he asked her.

She just nodded giving a smile.

"Mm.. well! I am Raymond Wilton. What's your name dear?" he asked calmly.

"I am Evangeline Joshua. You can call me Eva" she said grinning.

"Eva...nice name," he said. "How old are you dear?"

She was quite amused when he started asking about her details. She wondered if the man was thinking something inappropriate. By the looks, he seemed a little intimidating. She didn't wanna share her details with a stranger who is just a patient to her. Even though he asked everything genuinely she couldn't help but wonder why the man would ask questions like this.

Mr. Wilton realized that she was zoned out due to his question. " Dear, don't misunderstand me. I am just asking things like a father. Don't worry I am not gonna kidnap you or something" he said chuckling.

She was completely embarrassed and smiled awkwardly. " I am 28, Mr. Wilton," she said.

"Oh my, you look so young I thought if you were a kid at 18," he said with wide eyes.

"Well, I receive that comment a lot" she mumbled placing her fingers at her forehead.

He just chuckled and said, "cute".

"Anyways, Mr. Wilton, now tell me how you are feeling. Do you feel pain anywhere?" she asked worriedly.

"I am all fine dear. I don't feel any pain. Not when you are near me" he said smiling. He tried standing up, but before he could Eva shook her head and helped him return to his bed.

"Mr. Wilton, where are you going?"

"Let's go for a walk dear," he said calmly.

"No, Mr. Wilton, you can't. You need rest now. I am your doctor and you must listen to me" she said crossing her arms. "It all happened due to stress and lack of sleep. Please don't stress yourself out. And I have already informed your son so I guess he will be coming soon."

She was now gawking at him with a stern look. He just stared at her sweetly with a warm smile and nodded and laid down on his bed.

"Good," she said smiling widely.

"Dear can you do me a favor?" he asked giving an innocent expression.

"Sure, Mr. Wilton what do you want me to do?" she asked anxiously.

He breathed out exhaling and asked," Dear can you please call me Dad?"

She spaced out for the second time but this time she seemed extremely upset. She just stood there staring at the walls. She looked like a statue not even blinking her eyes.

"What happened, dear? It's okay if you are not interested. I am just an old man with stupid wishes." he said in upset.

"N..no no p...please don't say that" she stuttered. "I am sorry I was zoned out. It. It's just that I lost my dad years back and I kinda miss him." she said blinking her eyes trying her best to hold back the liquid starting to form in her eyes.

"Don't worry dear. You have me now. If you have any problems, I am always here for you." he said holding her hands. She smiled and nodded.

"So, will you call me dad, dear?" he asked raising his eyebrows.

"Sure, dad," she said, stressing the word 'Dad' for which the old man gave her a megawatt smile.

They chatted for a quite few minutes just like a normal father and daughter. Mr. Wilton didn't know why but he felt a warm feeling in his heart. He enjoyed her presence. Her chitty chats. Her pretty cute smile. He felt his heart beating lively after a long time. She was like a kid both physically and mentally in such a small frame.

"I guess I need to take my leave now," Eva said looking at her watch making her lips in a thin line . She had no idea but she was kind of disappointed. Mr. Wilton was very compassionate towards her and she could reminiscent those happy moments she shared with her father. She didn't want to but she had to or else she would miss the bus on her way home.

"Mm.. ok dear but you must meet me tomorrow, alright?" he asked and she nodded hastily in return.

She left the room closing the door from behind leaving the man grinning from ear to ear. She had just taken a few steps when she saw a guy running and shouting like a mental patient. She stood there watching as the guy entered Mr. Wilton's room. That was when she realized that this was that mad guy who called her bitch. 'That bastard. How can he be the son of such a kind man? He must have been adopted. Just how could he be so mean?' she muttered before carrying on her steps.

"Dad, what happened to you? Are you alright? Why did you go alone? I have told a thousand times to take a few men with you. Why don't you listen Dad?" the guy named Riaz Wilton started yelling pacing around with clenched fists and narrow eyebrows.

"Son, you are stressing me out. My doctor asked me not to stress out" the poor old man replied innocently.

"Dad, you are not a kid. You should take care of yourself. You know that I can't be with you every fucking single time" he said annoyed.

"Then son, you can get me a person who can take care of me"

"That's exactly what I have been telling you for so long. You never listened. Fine, I'll hire someone for you" he shouted raising his left eyebrow.

"No, son. I don't need an attendant. But someone whom I know. Actually I was treated by a doctor, who was really kind to me. She is the one who saved and brought me here" the old man replied staring at the walls with an unconscious smile plastered on his face.

"Okay. Then I'll just ask her about it. I will hire her. Don't" Riaz said letting out a sigh, settling on the stool beside his father's bed failing to notice those happy warm eyes.

"But son.." Mr. Wilton began, slowly turning sideways to meet his son's intense gaze.

"Huh?"

"I have already called her my daughter. I don't want her to work for me instead..."

"Instead what?"

"I want her to be my daughter-in-law son," he replied looking down at the blanket on the bed trying his best to avoid his son's burning glare.

"Dad, don't tell me that you want me to marry her. I can do anything for you but not this."

"Please, son. She will take good care of me as she is a doctor. I want you to marry her son. You know very well about my health condition. After your mother's and brother's death, I have been suffering from heart issues. I want to live son. I want to see my grandkids. And if you marry her I know I will live longer"

"Dad, you know that Stella is the only woman in my life next to mom. I love her dad. If you want then I can marry her. She would take care of you." Riaz stated as a matter of fact.

"Son, just because she has your mom's name it doesn't mean that she has qualities of your mom. I don't like her and I will never allow you to marry her," he said in anger. "And I have no idea how long I am gonna live. Please fulfill my last wish son. I am not young anymore son. This will be the first and last thing I would ever ask you." he said in upset turning his back towards his son.

Riaz sighed heavily and held his dad's hands. " Dad, you are the only one I have in my life. Don't speak something like this. It makes me worried" he said quietly.

"And what wrong with Stella? She would actually take good care of you. I just don't know why you don't like her! " Riaz muttered.

"Son, if you care about me, you will bring her as my daughter-in-law and that's final. If you don't wanna do that then leave, I can take care of myself".

There was a moment of silence where no one was ready to utter a single word.

Raymond opened his blankets and was getting ready to sleep and that's when Riaz finally opened his mouth.

Breathing out Riaz said, "Fine, Dad but with one condition."

When his dad nodded signaling him to continue he finally uttered," I will bring her as your daughter-in-law but not as my wife".
