"You fucking burn everything you touch, Riddle. Everything."
"Okay, first of all, rude," Remus growled, glaring at the image of the young boy. Sirius nodded in agreement, frowning worriedly as he glanced at Aurora, who was trying to maintain her composure.
"That filthy brat—" Tom began, a sneer forming on his face as he stared at the screen with enough venom to burn it. "He is gonna fucking pay for that," he spat vehemently. Abraxas choked, hearing his best friend curse for the first time in years, and began to reevaluate Aurora's status in Tom's heart.
Athena clicked her tongue at the young child's words towards her daughter, her eyes trailing to Aurora. She sat seemingly calm, but the tight grip she had on Riddle's arm was the only indication of her panic.
Mingyue, Aurora's best friend in the Gryffindor house, couldn't hold back her anger. "Who does he think he is, talking to you like that? He's just a stupid little boy!"
Amelia, a fellow Slytherin, added her own scathing remark. "If he thinks he can get away with this, he has another thing coming."
"He is a child, they can make mistakes." A hufflepuff muttered, weakly, which was pointedly ignored by everyone.
Aurora's other friends joined in, throwing insults at the screen. "What a little toad," one muttered. "He's got no idea who he's messing with," said another.
Aurora bit back a smile, touched by their protectiveness. Despite her calm exterior, she felt a warmth spread through her, knowing that so many people had her back.
The scene changed, and now showed an eight-year-old Aurora holding Dorea Potter, née Black's hand tightly, a nervous expression on her face.
"The only ball I never regretted attending, after all, I met my soulmate there," Sirius said teasingly, winking at Aurora, who flushed a deep shade of red. Regulus, standing nearby, glared at the two of them, his annoyance palpable.
"Mate, you cannot be jealous of them. You have no right to be," Rabastan remarked, giving Regulus a pointed look.
Regulus crossed his arms, scowling. "I'm not jealous. I'm just...trying to protect her from my brother's playboy ways." Evan and Rabastan collectively rolled their eyes at his words.
"Alright, now I want you to be very cautious of your surroundings. Do not take anything from anyone, stay quiet and calm, okay?" Dorea spoke softly, a smile appearing on her face, seeing her daughter nod.
Athena felt a pang of envy as she observed the awe and love in Aurora's eyes for Dorea. Where had she gone wrong? She couldn't fathom the reasons behind abandoning her one chance at love and redemption.
Lost in her thoughts, she glanced at Aurora, who was laughing at something Dorea had said. The warmth and affection between them were palpable, a stark contrast to the emptiness Athena felt inside.
