Hushed whispers resounded within the great hall as the occupants early stared at the figures standing at its center, an air of regal arrogance enveloping the group of eight individuals.
"Can anyone care to explain where in Merlin's name we find ourselves?" drawled a platinum-blond young man, assuming a nonchalant stance that promptly crumbled when a platinum-blonde young lady delivered a resounding smack.
"Utilize your vision, Malfoy. We are in the great hall, you wanker," retorted the young lady sharply. The young man glared in response and was about to retort when Lucius moved forward, uttering hesitantly, "Mother? Father?"
Callista Silver raised an elegant eyebrow before indulging in a giggle. "I fear I am descending into madness. I do believe I heard Abraxas 2.0 address me as 'mother.' Surely, insanity has taken its hold." Abraxas, in turn, shot her a sidelong glance, muttering 'batshit crazy woman' under his breath.
"You are not descending into madness. He did indeed address you as such," interjected another young lady, casting a mischievous wink towards Lucius, whose surprise mirrored that of the other onlookers.
"Aunt Lyra?" exclaimed Sirius, joyously leaping with a wide grin upon spotting his role model. "In the flesh, but how and why are you...?" "Sirius Orion Black, the family disappointment. Mum claims I inherit everything after you. Pleased to make your acquaintance," quipped the young boy with a cheeky grin. Walburga and Orion sighed at his words, too tired and shocked to reprimand the boy, while Lyra happily skipped over to him, shooting him a proud grin.
"What year is it?" queried a cold and incisive voice, freezing all further conversation with its icy tone. Dumbledore, who had paled and remained frozen in his seat upon the sight of the young man at the group's center, finally snapped out of his shock and hastily stood.
"Tom, my boy?" The aforementioned boy grimaced and gritted his teeth. "Merlin, why has this old codger not met his demise?"
As Tom turned to face Dumbledore, a sudden collision with a petite figure interrupted his movements. Ignoring the unanticipated warmth and affection, he sneered, "You-" only to be silenced when the word "Dad!" escaped the girl's lips.
Tom felt his body forcibly turn to face the individual who had dared utter those words, swallowing down every curse that lingered on his tongue as he locked eyes with her identical brown eyes.
Aurora sniffed and buried her head in the crook of Tom's neck, tears rolling down her cheeks as she clutched his shirt tightly. The taller boy would have pushed her away, but he couldn't; he simply wasn't able to as she cried on his shoulder.
"Marvelous, the sinner has a daughter," taunted another girl, stepping forward with a mocking smile at the scene. Though Tom would typically retaliate against such insolence, his attention was solely on the girl who had tensed in his arms.
Gently, almost tenderly, he pushed her away and, wearing a feigned smile, addressed Athena, "Perhaps you'd care to meet her, saintess." With that, he turned Aurora to face the one person she had despised throughout her entire existence.
