Another one-shot!

Why do I still do this

AU If Din had decided to stay a little longer on Nevarro

It was late afternoon when the rubble and bodies on the streets had been cleared up to a fairly neat extent.

Of course, The Mandalorian, Greef Karga, Cara Dune and even The Child had all pitched in, along with the thankful citizens in the town.

It was very amusing to see The Child pick up large pieces of rubble, whirl them around, play with them as one would play with dolls or action figurines, and toss them into the steadily growing pile. And then he immediately fell back and started to snore loudly.

If there were ever any remaining
stormtroopers, Cara and Mando had taken care of them.

If there was any valuables left in the former Imperial Rooms, Greef made sure to take it.

Now, they were watching the sun slowly set on Nevarro in comfortable silence, accompanied by the occasional sound of The Child babbling to himself, Mando slightly lifting his helmet to drink, and the noise of multiple glasses being refilled.

Out loud, that is. Mentally, a different story.

You see Mando was having some trouble keeping his eyes off Cara.

Both of them had washed off in some empty cabins, and Greef had brought them some clean clothes, kindly donated by the townspeople.

The problem was, Cara, after blatantly rejecting the knee-high dress and high heels she was offered (to Mando's relief), now sported a light, beige sleeveless shirt and jacket, black, slightly ripped shorts and black combat boots.

Her hair, instead of the usual side braid, was let loose on her shoulders with a braid woven around the back of her head.

Needless to say, she looked just about as attractive as space is big and dark and as The Child is cute.

So here was Mando's dilemma.

The sleeveless top and shorts gave a rather... interesting view of Cara's muscled, toned, arms and legs not to mention a better view of her face.

And now his eyes seemed to want to stay on her and never move again.

He had never had so much appreciation for his helmet as of now. Mando internally cringed at the thought of Cara's reaction to seeing him looking at her.

Greef, Cara and Mando had lugged some chairs and a couple bottles of spotchka - plus some bone broth for the kid - up to a high ridge, which was on the outskirts of the town.

They were sitting in semicircle. Greef on the left, Cara in the middle, Mando on the right. The Kid was babbling cheerfully in his father's arms, reaching out at the fading sun.

"I would just like to give you all a thank you for clearing out my town. Well, except for Mando here. He was just clearing up the mess he made." Greef suddenly broke the silence, shooting a pointed look at Mando.

Cara looked at the two in confusion. "What mess did he make?"

"So-" Greef started, before getting cut off by Mando.
