"Thanks for bringing me here". I told him giving him a little smile.
"Finally, you smiled". He said, smiling back at me. His smile was so radiant that I could wear sunshades to protect my eyes from the brilliance.
After entering Dure's car in front of everyone, I kept silent throughout and didn't even say hello to him. Neither did he say a word.
He brought me to Mc Douglas, an upcoming fast food which is getting more and more famous for it's different dishes which they gather from all over the world.
When Dure asked me what I wanted for lunch, I still kept silent. Not because I wanted to keep silent but I was quite ashamed to talk to him. Considering what Green did to him when he dropped me home, last time.
"You've silent. Something on your mind?" He asked me. I held the cup of milk shake he bought for me and stirred it.
"Nothing, really" I replied.
"I'm happy you are alright. I was really scared that your brother would hurt you but I couldn't stay to defend you. I'm sorry for not staying behind to defend you". His hand dropped on my left hand which was on the table.
"No, Dure. Don't apologize to me. I should be the one apologizing here for my brother's rudeness" I said with guilt in my mind.
The whole incidence that happened that night was so overwhelming, I didn't even remember Dure. My original plan was to call him that night to thank him but unplanned shit occurred.
"I understand. I already knew your brother didn't like me much. All I was worried about was you. You didn't even pick my calls, neither did you show up outside. I tried coming for a visit but I wasn't allowed in. So I didn't have any choice but to ask Phillips to send me a short text if you came to school". He explained.
"Thank you so much, Dure. Really. It means the world to me, that someone out there cares about my feelings..." I trailed off.
"But what-" He asked.
"Sorry?"
"You trailed off just now".
"Oh, I wanted to say once again, I'm sorry for my brother's behavior. That night he was just unnecessarily angry and almost killed Mary and my bodyguards. The girls knew nothing about my leaving but he just had to-"
"Listen Nora, He's your brother. Extremely worried about you. Everything he did was for you. I mean, I can't imagine my sister leaving just like that for a month without telling anyone. I'll also be mad" He said, totally interrupting me from my statement.
"I understand he's angry but what has that got to do with three innocent girls. Just thinking about it, makes me more angry". I almost yelled and slammed the milkshake on the table, which was unexpected and the milkshake spilled all over my face and my dress. It spilled everywhere.
"What the-" I was just about to curse out loud when Dure's palm covered my mouth.
"You're in a public restaurant. People are watching. Just stay still let me clean it for you". He told me, bringing out his handkie and cleaning my dress for me. He knelt down in front of me and took his time in cleaning my clothes. Then he took another handkie and sprinkled some water on it, then cleaned my face.
As he cleaned my face, I saw a guy, holding a camera, pretending to read a magazine.
I'mmediately, I tried to withdraw from Dure's touch but he used his other hand to pull me closer to him. Holding my face firmly to meet his, he cleaned every part of my face. When he was done, he helped me pick up something in my hair.
"I'm guessing today has really been great for you, seeing how you showed the milkshake your anger". He said and smiled at me, then he stood up and removed his jacket, putting it on my shoulders.
"Use this for the mean time". He said to me and I smiled. Then he walked to his seat.
"Why are you being so good to me?" I asked him. He looked confused more than ever.
"These days, you've been super kind to me. And we've just known each other for three months now, but you treat me like you've known me for ages". I couldn't help but ask. He sighed and stretched forth his hand to meet mine. He was about to say something when people rushed into the restaurant, carrying cameras and phones and suddenly, flashes were everywhere.
"Let's go" Dure said, suddenly standing up and pulling me with him.
"Good afternoon, your royal highness, If I may ask, Are you two in a relationship?"
"Is there going to be a bond between the two families?"
"The Henias and the Andrews seem to be getting along better than we thought".
"Is it true love or is it just a fling?"
"The both of you look perfect together. Is there going to be wedding bells soon?"
When we were out of the crowd finally, Dure turned to me and said "Can you run?... My car's just at the front".When I looked back and saw the amount of journalists running forward to meet us...
"I don't think I have a choice here". I told him and before the journalists caught up with us, we were already running towards the car.
I'mmediately we got there, we entered and before any of them could reach us, Dure zoomed off.
"Woah! That was extremely close". He said, reducing his speed and we ended up laughing together.
"Yeah, I know right?"
"These journalists are my greatest enemy". I said and Dure laughed.
"Did you hear the questions they were asking us? Just because we were having lunch together. Now, how do you expect me to answer that?" I told him and he laughed again.
" Why on Earth are you laughing?" I asked him.
"Nothing" he laughed. Then after a while, he stopped laughing and said "I'm sorry about the lunch. I didn't know they were coming. Should I take you to another place so you can have lunch there or I should just buy you some snacks". He asked.
"I'm fine, Dure. Thanks. Only wine will do".
"You're lucky I know the best place for a good wine". He replied and I smiled.
"Thank you so much Dure. You don't know how much this means to me".
"What are friends for?... As far as you're better". He said, looking straight ahead before stopping for the traffic light.
"I saw you having a face off with your cousin. It didn't look like you guys were just talking". He told me, still looking straight ahead.
"That bitch is the cause of everything that ever happened. She was the one who started all these".
"I heard. Phillips told me". He replied.
"Well, I don't think he told you that she is my worst enemy". I said to him and he laughed.
"There will always be that annoying person in the family. Who just wants to have everything you have and can do anything to get it".
"Exactly. Now you understand me. It's like I'm her rival in everything. She always look for ways to get on my nerves".
"Just leave her, let her strive for everything. No matter what she tries to get, she'll never be up to your standard". Dure said, with a comforting smile.
"Thanks, Dure".
