Maggie watched through her second floor window as the boys started rushing into the building. They finally said goodbye to their parents and were entering the school as they had been for years. Although this time, there were two new additions.

"Hey Maggie," Maggie looked over at her best friend and roommate, half dazed.

"What time is it?"

"I'm not sure Evelyn."

"I'm really hungry for dinner. I hope the food here is good."

Maggie just looked back out the window. She was extremely nervous to experience this new school year. Welton Academy had finally allowed girls to attend. Although insignificantly, the only girls attending were Maggie and Evelyn. Evelyn felt positive and viewed it as a start to something great. Maggie hadn't been around boys for much of her life, and did not know what to expect.

Suddenly a knock at the door made Maggie jolt, "Shit, that scared me."

"Yeah me too," Evelyn said.

Evelyn went to the door and opened it. A tall boy with brown hair was standing before her, a big smile across his face. Evelyn stood mouth ajar. A few seconds went by before she could manage to come up with words.

"Uh, hi," she muttered.

"Hi, my names Neil Perry," the boy held out his hand and Evelyn shook it.

"Evelyn Davis."

At this point Maggie walked up to the door to greet Neil as well. "Hi, Maggie Autry," she shook her hand with him as her roommate had.

"I just wanted to introduce myself to the new students, my roommate is new here too."

Maggie looked at Evelyn and noticed immediately that she was not going to be able to respond, "Well it's nice to meet you Neil," she smiled warmly.

"You too!" He replied. "Listen, my room is just down the hall, if you want please come, I'd love to introduce you girls to some friends."

"Thank you, we will."

"Yeah thanks," Evelyn said quietly after Neil had already made his way back down the hall.

"What was that all about?" Maggie asked. Evelyn didn't speak, she was grinning like an idiot.

"Hey," Maggie put her hands on her friends shoulders, "Earth to Evelyn!"

"What?" She suddenly snapped back to reality.

Maggie laughed at her friends reaction, "You're in lo-o-ove," she sang.

"No," she waved her hand and laughed, "I just wasn't expecting the boys here to be so beautiful. Do you think all of them are just as handsome?"

"I doubt we'd be that lucky," Maggie joked.

"C'mon, I wanna go meet the other boys," Evelyn grabbed Maggie's arm and started towards the door.

"Fine, I can unpack my stuff later," Maggie smiled. Even though all the boys made her skittish, after meeting Neil, she had higher hopes for what the other boys would be like. She also wanted to make Evelyn as comfortable as possible, Maggie knew she'd do the same for her.

As the two friends came out into the hallway, the noise from the other students became very apparent. They were all greeting their friends after months of not seeing them. A few of the boys caught sight of the girls and whispered to their friends. Unbeknownst to Maggie and Evelyn, this day had been on the minds of many Welton students for months. They were thankful that they're prayers for girls to attend the school had finally been answered.
