Mr. Keating had taken his english class outside again for another lesson. He instructed Pitts, Knox, and Cameron to walk in a circle with each other. After they were finished he began to critique them.
"Thank you, gentlemen. If you noticed, everyone started off with their own stride, their own pace." Mr. Keating then began to imitate the way that the three boys walked.
He gave a speech about the importance of non-conformity. He instructed the class to walk around the courtyard. But differently than everybody else, no matter how dumb or silly.
Maggie began tip toeing over to Charlie who was leaning against one of the pillars, "C'mon party pooper."
"Mr. Dalton? Will you be joining us?" Keating asked.
"Exercising the right not to walk," he said smugly.
"Thank you, Mr. Dalton. You just illustrated the point. Swim against the stream."
Evelyn kept making funny faces at Neil which made him laugh. Meeks and Pitts were having a staring contest from across the courtyard. Cameron and Todd were trying not to trip over their own feet. Maggie left Charlie and tip-toed around Knox, who was basically just spinning in a circle.
After class was over, Evelyn pulled Neil aside before they got to their dorm, "What is it?" Neil asked.
"I found out today is a special day," she smiled.
"Yeah?"
"It's Todd's birthday!"
"What? Why didn't he tell anyone?"
"I don't think he wants the attention honestly. But, it's not really fair to let someone spend their birthday all bored and alone."
"Alright, so what's the plan?" Evelyn could see the gears in his head twisting and turning.
"Let's all get together in your room. Todd told me earlier he was gonna study in the lounge tonight. Maggie and I are gonna get a cake from town and we'll just hang out in the room! I really think he would like that."
"Sounds perfect. I'll go tell everyone."
Neil turned to leave when Evelyn grabbed his arm, "Make sure you grill into Knox not to tell Todd. You know he can't keep a secret."
Neil nodded, smiled and went to go tell the other poets.
Pitts, Knox, and Maggie were talking across the hall from where Evelyn and Neil were, "Have they even kissed yet?" Pitts asked.
Maggie shook her head, "Evelyn doesn't think he likes her that way."
"Are you kidding?" Knox raised his eyebrow, "It's incredibly obvious."
"Yeah, I've never seen Neil like this before." Pitts said.
"I've seen Evelyn when she's into a guy before. But not like this. She's never been so comfortable around anyone like she is around Neil."
"How long do you think until they realize it?" Pitts chuckled.
"Knowing Neil..." Knox began, "he'll either realize it tomorrow or never."

Maggie and Evelyn had gone into town and brought back a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Evelyn had written "Happy Birthday Mr. Poetry" on it. They all gathered in Neil and Todd's room, waiting for him to come back from studying.
After awhile when Todd didn't come back, Neil suggested they go look for him. Evelyn and him went to the lounge and couldn't find him, "Where is he?" She asked.
