Peeta POV
~Later that night~

It's Katniss's night to rock Cassie. So, I'm waiting for her before I fall asleep on my own. Minus freaking out earlier, about Haymitch and Mrs. Everdeen, it was a wonderful day. Cassie said her first words, 'mama' and 'dada'. But I'm happy that 'mama' was her first word. I think I watched Katniss's heart grow triple its size. I want another, but I think it is too soon for Katniss. Besides, right now, I want to enjoy Cassie a little bit longer before giving her a sibling, if that's what Katniss wants to do.

"Well, she's finally asleep," Katniss says entering the room, collapsing onto the bed. "Well, that's a good thing for us," I say coyly. She turns her head and looks at my like I've gone completely mad. Not mad in the way I used to be years ago, but mad like I've lost my mind. But I am mad - madly and crazily in love with her. As soon as she sits up, I pull her right onto my lap and place my lips on her neck. I hear her breath hitch.

My body tingles with every touch from her as it has since we were sixteen. I take my hands to untie her robe and though I am barely touching her, she lets out a soft moan. I pull the robe off of her shoulders and lean down to kiss her neck and leave a trail of kisses down to where her heart is. She immediately grabs the hem of my shirt to remove it and softly runs her fingers down my chest, causing a chill to run through my body. She is truly the most beautiful person I have ever laid my eyes on, and I am so lucky that I get to call her mine. In that moment, she lunges.

~A While Later~

"You love me, real or not real?" I say softly kissing her head. "Real," she says with a smile.

I lean down and kiss her and pull her naked body into mine, tightly. Within minutes, she's asleep. This is one of my favorite parts of the night, watching her sleep.

Katniss POV
3 Months Later

It's mid May, a beautiful spring day. I have Hunter and Violet with Cassie in the meadow. They're all picking wildflowers just a couple feet away. Peeta is working at the bakery for a couple more hours. Noah is at school, he wanted me to walk him today, because I had the kids with me. He loved it. I told Annie I'd pick him up as well and get him wore out before he came home. He's always so hyper after school, makes me wonder if they give them sweets just to torment the adults. Gale and Charlie are in Three right now, which is why we have Hunter and Violet, plus to give Hazelle a break too.

"Katniss!" I hear someone call. I turn and look, "Jo! Hey!" I say smiling. "It's beautiful out today isn't it?" I nod. "That is why I have them out here." I motion towards the kids. She looks over and smiles. "They're getting entirely way too big aren't they?" she says with a hint of sadness in her voice. I look over to her. I want to leave it alone, but I can't find myself to let it go. "Anything wrong?" I ask her. "No." she starts and looks at me. "It's just that Thom wants us to live together and I honestly don't think that I can leave Annie." "Jo, why don't you talk to her. I am sure she will understand." I say quietly, with my eyes trained on the kids. "It's not that Katniss. Finnick. He made me promise him that I'd be there for Annie if anything ever happened to him." she says quietly. Oh. "Jo, you know I am sure if you told Thom the promise you made Finnick, I am sure he'd understand. Also, talk to Annie, maybe she wouldn't mind if Thom moved in with you guys. He is there pretty much every single day, you know." I say focused on her. "Ha! I never even thought about that. You know brainless, you're smart when you want to be." she says smiling, nudging me with her elbow. I turn my attention back to the kids when I see that they are not where they were just thirty seconds ago.

I jump up. "Cassie! Hunter! Violet!" I scream. All of a sudden my mind races to all those years ago, and Prim. I feel as if I cannot catch my breath. I just keep screaming out their names. What if they're gone, what if someone took them so quickly that I never heard my daughter call for me. Oh my gosh. Gale and Charlie are never going to forgive me if anything happened to Hunter and Violet. I start to feel myself collapse onto the ground, defeated that I failed as a mother. The one thing I feared, losing my child. I call out their names one last time when I hear "Mama!" My ears barely register it, but that's my daughter. I look up and I see her and Johanna running to them. I take all of the strength I can manage and run to her. I can't help it, I grab her and Hunter and Violet and pull them into my arms.

"Katniss?" I hear Jo. "Breathe, Katniss." She's saying. I look at her, and then the children. Slowly, I let them go and slow my breathing down. I look over and I see where they have been. They're by her headstone. The one Peeta put there, for her. Immediately I feel calm that they were here.

"Come on you guys," I say to the kids. Jo and Hunter are already going back to the blanket that we've had laid out. Cassie and Violet are waiting for me. I lean down and touch her headstone, "Thank you Prim." I say softly. She was watching them, I feel it. I scoop both of the girls up and kiss them both. "How about we go see daddy, Cassie?" I say to her. "DADDY!" she squeals. "How about it Violet, want to go see Uncle Peeta?" She shyly smiles. It's Gale's smile.

"You okay?" Jo asks me. "Yeah, I am good. I just had a panicky moment. I'm sorry. Just do me a favor, this stays between us?" She shakes her head, "Of course."

I put everything back into the bag and set the girls in the stroller while Hunter is on Jo's shoulders. As we get closer to the bakery, I can hear voices, one being Peeta's. I look at Jo, "Please, take them to my mother's and tell her that I will be there shortly." She nods and quickly leaves with the kids.

"Do not make me call Plutarch. You know you are not welcomed here." I hear Peeta. "Mister Mellark, we just want to confirm the rumor that you are Katniss are parents." Damn reporters. I walk in the back door and make my appearance out in the front. "Katniss!" he reporter calls to me. I watch my husband turn around. "Maybe you can answer the question that your husband will not." he says. I look at Peeta and just nod to him. He knows that means to call Plutarch. "Sir, you need to leave. Anything you have heard, it is a lie." I say smoothly. Saying my daughter is a lie hurts more than anything, but I have to protect her.

"So you and Peeta are not parents?" he says confirming what I just said. "No." That's when security walks in.
