It's been a week since I've lived with Axl and the band. I was talking a lot more, and a lot more comfortable around any of the guys. At night, I would stay in Axl's room, not feeling safe by myself. I didn't go out much, not feeling comfortable enough, since Noah is still out there.
One morning, I was watching tv with Duff and Izzy, while the other three were out.
"You know." Izzy whispered to Duff, "There's no way Axl doesn't like her." I stared at them, while they stared at me.
"Well, it's true." Duff started, "He's never acted that way to any other girl." Izzy nodded. "He needs a girl like you."
I stared at both of them, not really knowing what to say. Before I could say anything, the front door opened, in walked Axl, slash, and Steven. We all stared at each other, nobody saying anything.
"Ok, what happened?" Slash asked, breaking the silence.
"Nothing." All three of us said at the same time, causing more suspicion. Axl started at Izzy, who stared back blankly. Axl then looked at me, giving me a questioning look. I shrugged, before he sat down next to me. "Seriously, what happened?" He whispered to me.
"Nothing bad, we just talked about stuff." I said, looking at Izzy, who gave me a thankful look. Axl sighed, "Ok."
They decided to practice for a while. I thought it was pretty good, being able to hear them practice.
But I found myself always staring at Axl. Just like he stared back at me.
It was when they were playing the song Patience, that I couldn't take it anymore. I could feel myself getting dizzy, so I decided to go outside for a little bit.
I need to stop thinking about Axl. There's no way he likes me.
I leaned against the back porch railing, hearing the door open behind me.
"Hey." Axl said, standing next to me. I just looked at him, as he leaned on the railing next to me. "You good?"
"Yeah, I just got dizzy." I said, looking out at the small backyard. "Hm." I looked over at him, who smiled back at me. I found myself looking from his eyes to his lips. Axl was slowly leaning in, and so was I.
Suddenly, the door opened. Immediately, we both looked over, where Slash stood, followed by Steven.
"We're gonna start a movie." Slash started, completely unaware of what almost happened. "Ok." We both said at the same time. Slash looked from me, to Axl, before going back inside. I looked over at Axl, following him inside.
Did that just happen?
Axl sat on one couch, with Duff and Steven, while I sat next to Slash and Izzy. Constantly, Axl and I would make eye contact, quickly looking away each time we did.
Soon, the movie was over, and everyone went to bed. Axl took a shower, as I sat in his bed, all alone. Of course, I didn't sleep, I honestly couldn't. I didn't have a phone, so I borrowed one of Slash's books to keep me occupied.
After a little while, I could hear voices in the hall. I could tell one of them was Axl, but they were to quiet, so I don't know who the other person is. Eventually, Axl came in, and we went to bed.
......
I woke up at noon, which was a first for me in a really long time. I walked into the living room, where the guys sat.
"Oh, hey." Axl got up, motioning me to follow him into the kitchen. For a second, I got a little nervous, not knowing what he would say. He grabbed a grocery bag, pulling a box out.
"Here." He handed it to me. I looked at it, almost dropping it in shock.
"You got me a phone?" I asked, looking up at him. He nodded, smiling a little, "I figured you could use it." I stared at the box for a few seconds, before opening it. Axl helped me set it up, since I haven't had a phone in forever.
After that was done, they practiced again, since they were getting ready for their next tour. I decided to make something for them to eat for supper, since I really wanted to cook, and I had nothing better to do. I dug through the fridge, and pantry, until I decided on meatloaf and brown-buttered potatoes. That was the only somewhat big meal I knew how to make without a recipe in front of me.
I got the meatloaf in the oven, the potatoes in the pan, so I decided to set the table. They never really sat at the table to eat, but I'm sure one time wouldn't hurt. I made some grape Kool-Aid afterwards, and soon, the food was finished.
"What's cooking?" I looked up, seeing Slash at the door frame, followed by the others. "Oh, I made meatloaf, nothing spe-" I stopped, as everyone sat down at the table, already digging in.
"She's a keeper!" Izzy said, patting Axl's back. Axl glared at Izzy, but I couldn't help but laugh, as I sat down.
That night, we all talked about random things, laughing at one another's jokes.
After dinner, I offered to wash the dishes, but Steven insisted I not. So I took a shower, before going outside, watching the sun set.
"We need to talk." Axl said as he walked outside. I sat up, facing him, "Ok?" He sighed, "About yesterday..." I knew what he was talking about, but he didn't sound to happy. "I didn't mea-" I started, before he interrupted. "I know you didn't, I didn't either." We stared at each other for a second. "I shouldn't be doing this." He stood up, "Be doing what?" I asked, starting to get confused. "I shouldn't be doing THIS." He pointed back and forth at us. "I'm just gonna hurt you." I stood up, "Your not hur-"
"Yes I am!" He paused, looking at the house, "You just escaped something tragic, the last thing you need is any-"
"I haven't liked him for years now!"
Suddenly, the door opened. "What is going on?" Slash asked. I looked back at Axl, "If anything, I've hurt you more than you'll ever hurt me." I walked back inside, before he could say anything. I didn't bother going in his room, just in the guest bedroom. Of course, I didn't sleep.
Once it was midnight, and I could tell nobody was awake, I decided to go. I looked around for a piece of paper, leaving a note so they knew.
Guys,
I decided it would be better for all of you if I was gone. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine.
Thanks all of you, for letting me stay here. I won't forget yall.
Love,
Ashlyn
I started tearing up, as I placed the note on my nightstand, along with my phone. I wasn't gonna bring anything with me, except a change of clothes, and a few dollars Izzy gave me for dinner.
I quietly opened the window, and snuck out.
As soon as I was outside, I took off running, making sure nobody saw me.
I ran for a few minutes, before I stopped at a bus stop, just barely having enough for a ticket out of town. I sat down at the bench, and cried.
I don't know how long I was there, but suddenly, I felt something was off. I looked around, and noticed a van parked a few blocks down.
That wasn't there before.
I got up, walking in the direction of town. After a minute, I noticed the van still behind me, take off. I started jogging, before breaking out into a full on sprint.
Until I heard the bang of a gun.
And I was on the ground.
