As Maya walked in, holding Joy in her arms after they left the stroller right outside the front door, Leslie appeared in the hallway.
"You're back." She spoke softly looking at Maya and warmly smiling at her, walking closer to hold her tight in a side hug.
Carina followed right behind placing the keys on the little table at the entrance, sighing and running a hand through her hair.
"I am...kind of. Your mom showed up at the station telling me that apparently without me here you can't survive, can you?" The blonde teased her daughter making her laugh a little.
Everyone knew the pair had to talk now, after only five days of separation but definitely months of tension.

The Captain had been tapping her pen on the wooden desk in her office for almost two hours. She was supposed to fill the reports and file the documents that requested the new equipments but her mind was racing so fast that her thoughts couldn't even keep up.
A knock on the door eventually dragged her out of her own mind.
"Yes?" She questioned, still tapping the pen fast enough for it to be annoying.
"Maya? Can I talk to you?" Andy asked walking in as soon as she heard Maya's permission.
"Of course. Take a sit Lieutenant." The blonde spoke once again, finally ending the tapping and sitting straight on her turning chair.
The latina took a seat in front of her and stayed quiet for a few seconds looking at the blonde who was staring at the picture on the left side of the desk.
"I'm not here as Lieutenant. I'm here as your best friend." Andy spoke eventually, making Maya inevitably move her gaze on the brunette.
"Don't you think we should talk? At least a little?" She proposed, slightly bending her head to the side still focusing on blue eyes.
"What about?" The Captain asked with a sigh, knowing that she could avoid it this time.
"About the fact that in the past almost three months you've barely done nothing but work. We haven't seen Carina coming here in weeks. And you didn't talk to us, to me, about how you feel. We are worried about you." The Lieutenant took a deep breath, hoping the other woman would follow and speak.
Maya's thoughts were racing, she could have blurt it all out, or remain silent and go back to the gim to let all the frustration out. Instead her body did as it wanted and tears started to fill her eyes, before falling down on her cheeks. She immediately looked away towards the window.
As soon as she noticed the latina immediately stood up and walked towards her best friend to hold her in the tightest hug as she let tears fall, sobbing and digging her head in Andy's crook, silently crying.
It took her a while, maybe half an hour, to stop crying. She hadn't done that since they went back home from the hospital after Carina's surgery. She tried to be there for her wife as much as she could. The brunette would often raise up in the middle of the night to cry in the bathroom for hours before going back to bed, but Maya simply dived into work and ignored her own feelings for too long. And the blonde missed her wife so bad it hurt.
Andy eventually pulled away still looking at her drained friend. She had never seen Maya so tired, she probably had never looked so deep in her eyes to realise how sad she was, how hurt.
