It all started with a winter dinner, a couple days before Christmas. I remember be reading a book about one of Sherlock's cases when my mother called me to go eat dinner.
*FLASHBACK:
I looked at the window in front of me and let out a sigh as I watched the snow gently fall on the naked trees ahead. It was like the world was at peace.
Few seconds later I ran downstairs to have dinner. I sat down and started eating the rice and the grilled steak my mother cooked.
Although there was a war between humans and vampires outside, I felt safe.
We were talking and I heard my older brother laughing, but my mind was far away, I was thinking about the killings happening in that moment.
Since vampires decided to come out, there has been a bloody war for dominance.
Vampires would break into people's houses and kill whoever was in them, even if it was a child, and humans of course, were losing. We've managed to created weapons and bullets, but we are humans, we don't have the speed, the strength they have.
Everyone had an opinion of who should rule the world.
There were different groups of vampires: the vampires who didn't want war at all, the ones who broke into people's houses and kill everybody except the children, and the ones who killed everybody.
"Earth calls Thea. Earth calls Thea." I heard my brother mock.
"What do you want?"
"We were talking about the book you're reading. What is it about, peasant? "
Are you kidding me?
I looked at my father to check for any signs of this question being just another way for Louis to tease me, but he was really interested this time, he raised his eyebrows as an encouragement for me to respond my brother.
Oh.
"It about a girl who loves surfing, but has an accident and starts to fear the water." I smiled to him.
"How does she shower, you ass head?" I rolled my eyes at my brother and moked his tone of voice and my father tried to keep a serious face but chuckled.
"Look, you stupid ass, it's not that s-"
We heard something break in the kitchen and everyone fell quiet, I vaguely remember my mother silently motioned us to go under the table quickly, which was covered by a big white cloth.
After we did that, we heard steps coming near the dinner table and I could tell that they were two people approaching.
"You two weren't alone, where is the other person?" I heard an unknown voice ask.
"There isn't anyone else besides me and my husband."
"She's lying, Noah. " the other man spoke coldly. The second voice came from a man, and the first did too.
"I know, Kyle. Look lady, it will be worst if you don't cooperate with us." The first man spoke again, this time in a more threatening tone.
My brother glanced at me and we exchanged looks.
He wanted to come out and spare our parents from the suffering.
I replied, silently, 'no' with tears threatening to spill.
Louis looked at me once again with glassy eyes and crawled from under the table.
I sat there, tears running through my face, hearing everything.
