For a few moments I looked away to outside the window, to the woods, pondering if I really wanted to be the one to find out who it was and if I was prepared to see someone dead or semi dead.
Whatever that means.
I noticed a figure in the middle of the big green trees.
It just anxiety Thea, just anxiety. There's nothing there.
I ignored and began to think again, or at least I tried to.
Was I really prepared to go through all of it again? What if the person lying on the ground wasn't dead and the fact of not looking would definitely kill them?
With the desire of not want to let someone die because of me I turned around not prepared for what I was about to see.
A scream left my lips as I saw Kate's livid dead body lying on the floor.
"No, not you... " I whispered, tears forming in my eyes and my knees failing to support me.
Soon everybody will be here.
My thoughts wandered to the little girl with dark curly hair sleeping peacefully on her bed. She can't see Kate like that, she will be scarred for life.
The first one to show up was Grace, recently brought here and she was about my age, maybe a year younger than me.
"Are you okay? What happened?" She ran to me, overlooking the bloody counter.
Soon, more than five people showed up in the kitchen and their hands almost instantly found their way to cover their mouths.
"Oh my..." Grace gasped, finally looking at Kate.
Somehow Kate's hand trembled and my first instict was to check if she was still alive, but my mind stopped me.
Think with me, she can't be alive, not with a puddle of blood formed by the marks on her neck. Which it means...
"Shit," I murmured. "Run! Run!" I felt my cheeks turning white at the thought.
"Why?" Grace asked instead of running. "She's fucking turning, and the next thing she's going to do is kill someone, so I suggest you run." I answered in an urgent tone.
"What about you?!" "Go before she kills everyone in this house. Lock all the doors of the bedrooms" I shouted and she just nodded and ran.
The house that took me after the murder of my parents was like a mansion, it had 14 bedrooms, ten bathrooms and lots of other rooms, so I know they will be safe. It was beautiful, but the bad part the house are the woods behind it.
Of course we aren't alone in this mansion, two old ladies take care of us, correction, we take care of each others.
There used to be three ladys, but one of them died mysteriously two or three decades ago. No one knows what really happened to the third lady, and everytime one of us asks about the subject the other ladies just changes the subject or ignores us.
All that was left of Mrs. Connor, that was her name, was two or three painted portraits of her down the hallway and around the house.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I noticed some movements on the floor. I glanced at Kate and she started to open her eyes and I immediatedly searched for a knife and but I couldn't find one where they were supose to be, I kept looking and found a white wooden stake.
"Why the hell is there a wooden stake in this house?" I whispered looking ahead and seeing Kate walking towards me licking her lips.
"Kate, it's me. Thea. Don't do this." I pleaded her.
