Into the ice-kissed Boston air came wintry-feathers of pure white, a great snowfall that inevitably approached the start of a blizzard.

As unpredictable as Boston's weather was, Boston's winter was equally unforseeable.

A week ago, everyone were still enjoying the light snowfall, having snowball fights and making snow angels. However now, almost everyone was indoors, with the E.R. being expected to be incredibly busy due to injuries that usually came with the blizzards and snowstorms.

The streets were paved with a thick, cold and elegant coat of white. The trees peppered across the city were stripped off their green clothes and bushes were crushed due to the grave burden of snow above their heads. Every time the doors to the E.R. opened with another incoming patient, the room's buzzing noise was instantly overpowered by the howling winds that peaked at an extremely high pitch.

"From 11A.M. this morning, the city of Boston has received an additonal 16 inches of snow, driven by winds clocking in at 60 miles per hour in places. With the increasing intensity of the snowstorm, there have been a spike in emergency cases in hospitals around Massachusets, with Solomon Kenmore taking the heaviest brunt, being a Level 1 Trauma Centre. Due to insufficient space, hospitals such as Edenbrook, that is set to close down in a few months, are also expected to be utilized..."

Blue sighed as she watched the weather report being published onto the T.V. monitor situated in the community clinic. The weather had been decent that morning when her roommates and her left their apartment to get to work. However, from 9 A.M. onwards, they had started to notice the snowfall gradually becoming heavier.

A triage was not called just yet by Edenbrook's Head of Trauma, but Blue knew that it was only a matter of time before they had to. Blizzards usually came with many fractures and accidents due to the strong winds, slippery ice as well as falling trees. While it was far from an ideal situation, it did give the Edenbrook staff a sense of importance, for people were turning towards them for emergency care despite it being a sinking ship.

Blue tended to a few more patients before the crowd started to dampen as lunch time approached. The holiday season had really made its mark on both the staff and patients this time, holding onto their last memories of one of the most prestigious hospitals in the city; though it was disenchanted by the governement's choice to cut budgets, as well as the consistent negligence of past administrators, by attaching it to the spirit of Christmas.

The halls were ornated with quaint wreathes, mini christmas trees on nurse stations, stockings, and fairy lights, all leftover decorations from past years, that the administrators had dished out to use for a final last time before donating them elsewhere.
