The soft wind was whistling in his ears, his entire mind at ease. The silence was so calming his body felt like it was floating on fluffy clouds, taking him away from the miserable earth to someplace better. It was weird to feel this way after completely blacking out and waking up in a massacre of death and dried tears, but he couldn't help it. Something inside of him made everything seem relaxed, like a warm bath after a long day of work or school.

He rolled over, placing his elbows in the grass under his head. The blond began picking the grass beneath him, twisting the long bright green strings around his index finger absentmindedly. Normally the same thoughts would be bothering him; Technoblade, finding a cure for the venom- But all of those things didn't worry him now for some unknown reason.

Yet, one problem seemed to attempt to fight its way back into his head, banging on the doors he had finally been able to close off. The stupid and irrelevant memory of that boy's face kept showing up in front of him without any reasoning, not willing to disappear. Sometimes it would drive him crazy, while other times it put his mind at ease.

His mind could discuss if George really mattered that much to him for hours without him noticing, but in the end, he always agreed on the same conclusion; he only cared for him because of a deal he made, because he had sworn to protect him. Everything he had done for him was just to keep that promise.

Right?

But then why did the thought of George kissing his so-called 'girlfriend' make him want to throw up? Why did that spark of jealousy he felt when he saw him with someone else than he affect him so much? He bit his lip in annoyance, exhaling loudly.

'Dream!' He heard someone yell at him from across the water, rolling his eyes in response. With a bothered groan, he let his head fall into the grass, which began to tickle his colorless cheeks.

He didn't look up when footsteps got closer, waiting for the other to interrupt his peaceful moment.

'Dream-'

'What,' he snarled back.

'What do you mean 'what',' Sapnap said, offended, 'you know what!'

'I do, thanks for explaining. Can you now leave?' He could imagine how fed up his friend was with him now, but to be honest, he couldn't care less.

'I know I've said this like a million times in the past month, but you need to get yourself together idiot.' The blond sighed in defeat, rolling over again to look up at the dark sky, stars scattered across the darkness.

'I feel different,' he suddenly whispered, earning two lifted brows from the brunet.

'Yeah, no shit, who wouldn't after mercilessly murdering a few dozen people.' The blond stuck out his hand so Sapnap could help him get up, still looking at the same spot in the stretched sky.

The other huffed. 'You help yourself get up, moron.' He again rolled his eyes, dropping his arm to use it to stand up. He glanced around the place, spotting a small but noticeable movement just a few spots away from them. He tilted his head in curiosity, slowly stepping over to the observation.

A girl, probably around 20 years old, was hiding beneath the corpse of someone he had killed, her whole body trembling in immense fear. Her blue eyes widened when she saw him, her breathing quickening.

'P- Pl- Please,' she begged, 'don't hurt m- me.' He stood there for a moment, his friend by his side. A very stupid idea began forming in his head, probably the most not-him plan he had ever thought of.

He glanced to his right where Sapnap was basically praying he wasn't going to hurt her, a short laugh falling out of his mouth.

'Relax, I'm not killing her.' The left corner of his lips curled up, his friend's face seeming more at ease now.
