She woke from her slumber by the screams of the people of Dale. She shot her head up, looking wearily around her. She saw nothing but she could hear the screams of the people still. The dwarves were running around in their homes, saving what they could. Then she heard it, the thud of the gate crushing. The sound of claws against the cold stone floor and Thror's helpless screams. Then all was silent. No more sound, only a slight rumble in the treasure hall. The She dragon stood up, shaking her purple body. She then yawned and decided to see what had disturbed her slumber. She had been sleeping peacefully for almost 500 years. The dwarves never knew of her and dint bother either.

She then entered the treasure hall. The rumble had gone quieter but she soon was startled by the presence of a male. She could see that he was a drake. A fire drake to be correct. She had heard that fire drakes were known for their great obsession with gold and other treasures. Of course, these chambers were filled with gold to the roof. And the damn Arken stone where the crown jewel or so she had heard.

"Who are you?" The male drake rumbled. She moved her eyes to meet his. Her blue-purple shone in the glimmer of the hoard. "My name is Alleta. I have lived in this mountain since the Valar created it. And who may you be, if I may ask?" Alleta had nothing against strangers but she wasn't overfond of them either. Especially if they had disturbed her sleep.

The male drake smiled before he towered his head. "I am Smaug the terrible. I am the new king under the mountain." He boasted. Alleta rolled her eyes, knowing too well that males loved to bragged when they were in the presence of a female, especially her. She didn't know why and found it quite annoying.

"Well then Smaug the terrible, you may stay here as long I am allowed to leave at my own will. And I will get to be alone when I wish" with those words, she crept back to her sleeping place.

Thats how her friendship with smaug started. She felt the dwarves should come back to reclaim their home but for now, she pushed the thought away.

A/n: i know this chapter isn't really long but i dint want to make such a long prologue since that can be a little boring, if you're with me.
