Skyler's P.O.V
"Atlas, wait!" I called after him but he ran out. "Why would you do that Dad?"
"What do you mean?"
"You made it sound like he is a threat!"
"Skyler, do you have any idea what the Kingdom of Dragons is like?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you recall the stories of the royal gems?"
"You mean how each Kingdom had a special gem that represented the royal family? Then one year, gems started going missing?"
"Right, but there is part of that story that is only known to a few. The gems didn't go missing. Years ago the King of the Dragons went on a rampage and started killing royalty in different Kingdoms. Each time he killed a King he would take the gem and add it to his own crown. Signifying every life he has taken. No one has seen or heard from him since his spree. Now his only son shows up in Eldoro and befriends the Princess."
"Dad, I found him wounded in the woods. If I hadn't brought him here he would have died. How can you think he is here to do harm?"
"Skyler, all I'm saying is to be careful. I don't want you to get hurt."
"I know Dad, but there is a fine line between being careful. And not giving someone a chance. I suggest you give Atlas the benefit of the doubt."
I left after that and went to find Atlas. I checked his room first and I could see him in the loft. I climbed up the stairs and sat next to him on the bed.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"What is there to talk about? Your father obviously doesn't trust me and knows who I am which only complicates things more."
"Forget what my Dad thinks. I trust you, and I can tell you have a kind heart. Even if there are some rough patches from your past, I know you are a good person."
"If only you knew..."
"What was that?"
"Nothing, I just... I think I'll be ready to talk soon. I just need a little longer."
"No problem, I can give as long as you need."
"Thank you Skyler. For everything."
"Your welcome Atlas."
"I'll come find you later, I need some alone time."
"Okay, take as long as you need."
I got up and left the room. I didn't know how long he would be so I decided to get some practice in. I made my way to my room and put my riding clothes on, after that I went out to the stables to grab Storm. When I got there Storm neighed as I approached, before I saddled her, I bent down next to the hay bale by her stall and pulled out my sword. It had a long silver blade and a rose gold handle. I sheathed it and attached it to my saddle and got onto Storm. I took the back way out of the stable that led to the forest so the guards wouldn't see me leaving. In a secluded part of the woods I have a training center that I made. As Princess, I was never taught fencing or self defense. It was my job to let others do it for me. That never made sense to me, so instead of asking my father. I created a place where I could train in secret, I convinced the blacksmith to make me a sword and started learning everything I could. I read books about fencing and defense strategies, then when I felt I was ready I put it all into practice and now I'm very good. If I do say so myself. I got to practicing, and after about forty five minutes, I was out of breath and sweaty. Great. Now I have to fit in a shower too. I was about to head back to the castle when I heard a twig snap behind me, I whipped around sword ready.
