Jennie was sleeping very peacefully. She was only awoken from her sweet dreams by little licks.
"Stop that, darling.... I'm sleepy..." Jennie mumbled, turning around in her bed.
She felt little steps on her, then her other cheek was being licked.
"Seriously...." Jennie sighed, opening her eyes to see Button on her sheets.
"Oh it's just you." Jennie rubbed her eyes and patted the cat. She remembered that Jisoo wasn't here. Jisoo was overseas to attend a wedding.
Button meowed and nudged Jennie's head, clearly trying to give her a message. Jennie stared perplexed until Button jumped up and hit the alarm. That's when Jennie's eyes saw the time. 9 am.
Jisoo is usually awake by 7 am. She gets up, prepares breakfast, wakes each of them up and sends them off.
It's a good thing that it was weekend, so they didn't have to go to school but Jennie should still prepare breakfast. So she got on her feet and waddled to the kitchen, still tired. Button followed her and scratched her feet lightly whenever Jennie yawned.
"I'm sure darling told you to watch over me, right?" Jennie bent down and caressed the cat's head, receiving a pur. She takes that as confirmation.
"So what do we do first?" Jennie rolled up the sleeves of her pyjamas and looked around in the kitchen.
Button jumped on a package of cornflakes.
"Cornflakes? Button really? You underestimate me." Jennie tsked and ignored the cat. "I can do better than that."
Just because Jisoo often cooks doesn't mean Jennie can't do it. She has done it plenty of times. Now the question is what should she go for? Traditional Korean? A bit more exotic? A simple sandwich or eggs with bacon?
Honestly she doesn't remember what the kids prefer. Jisoo usually already finished the lunchboxes by the time Jennie is awake.
"Then I guess we play it safe with bacon and eggs." Jennie decided. "Maybe mini pancakes and maple syrup too."
She went to work immediately and was done in no time. She messed one pancake up but Button was nice enough to eat the crumbled bits. Without syrup of course.
Now the next task. Wake the kids up.
Jennie went to Hana's room first as it was closer to her.
"Wake up princess." Jennie shook her shoulders lightly, receiving a groan.
"It's the weekend... Do you hate me...?" Hana mumbled with her eyes closed.
Okay so much about that. Jennie retreated and went to Jay's room. She was surprised to see the boy awake in his bed.
"You okay little prince?" Jennie sat at the edge of his bed and caressed his head, tracing her fingers through his locks.
The boy nodded but he was clearly upset, his eyes looked glossy.
"Bad dream?" She asked softly.
He shook his head. "It's already past 8 am..." The boy mumbled.
"And?" Jennie queried.
"Mama and I watch Sesame Street by now...." He sulked.
That show broadcasts this early?
"Well, you can watch it with me. I also made eggs and pancakes." Jennie offered.
His eyes lit up and he jumped into Jennie's arms happily.
"This is an exception okay? We don't watch TV while eating on other days." Jennie reminded him, while carrying him to the living room.
