The next day came; it was a Saturday. "Oliver, darling, wake up!" called Farah. "You're Aunt, Uncle and cousins will be here soon!" Groaning, Oliver got up, cleaned himself, got dressed and ran downstairs for breakfast. He noticed his mother stare out of the window. "What are you doing, mum?" he asked, putting his plate in the dishwasher, and sitting on the sofa. "Looking out for the taxi," Farah responded. Just then, a black taxi pulled up into the drive, and out stepped a man, a woman, 2 teenage-looking girls and 3 children. "That's definitely them," stated Farah. The doorbell rang, and Farah went over to opened the door. Stood on the doorstep was Edmund and Clarice McRae; Edmund looked very similar to his late brother, except he was taller and skinnier and wore glasses. He had smoothly-cut brown hair, brown eyes, and a nervous smile. He wore a grey sweater with black trousers and leather boots. Clarice, however, was a bit shorter than her husband, and had long blonde hair, lightly tanned skin with blue eyes and a wicked-like smile. She had a white and black hat, matched with her long pencil dress. She had golden heels, dark sunglasses, a white designer purse and bright red lipstick.
"Farah! How great to see you!" Clarice spoke sarcastically in her American accent. "I am so sorry about Nathaniel, he was a good man." "Indeed," replied Farah, also speaking sarcastically. "Look, I know you hate me," began Clarice, walking in, clutching her handbag. "but Nathaniel was also my brother-in-law as well as your husband, so why don't we just respect each other and mourn in peace? Eds! Take the bags in! And get the children!" "Right!" replied Edmund, holding a lot of bags, mostly Clarice's. "Do you need help there?" asked Farah, feeling sorry for her brother-in-law. "I can take some for you, and I'm sure Oliver is glad to take some too, it could give him a boost on exercise, you know!" "N-no, I'm fine thanks," stuttered Edmund, walking in. "Kids! Get inside, your mother is waiting!" Then walked in the five children: Darla, Sandy, Kane, Oscar, and Delilah. Darla was the oldest, aged 18; she had brown hair with blonde blended in tied in 2 short pigtails with pearl hairties. She had lightly tanned skin like her mother, a slim waist, and blue eyes. She wore a punch coloured sweater with fresh jeans and black boots with golden lining. She also had small hoop earrings with diamonds attached to the bottom.
Oliver then got up from the sofa and noticed his cousin had walked into the room. "Honey, why don't you talk to Darla while you're waiting?" Farah said, awkwardly smiling. "I'm sure you'd like to talk." "Fine, mum," sighed Oliver, getting up and saying to Darla, "Hey Darla, how are you doing?" "I'm sorry about your father, Oliver," Darla responded, sitting down with no emotion. "and yes, I am fine." Her younger siblings then entered the room. "I want to watch the Tv!" whined Kane, holding an expensive ipad. "You have an ipad, why can't you just watch YouTube on it?" sighed Darla in annoyance. "Yeah, sissy's right!" added Delilah, hugging a teddy bear. As Delilah was only 5, she didn't really understand what goes on most of the time, but she looked up to her older siblings a lot and mostly copied what they said and did. "Keep out of this, Delilah!" snapped Kane, dropping the ipad near her and attempting to snatch the remote out of Darla's hand. "MOMMYYYYY!!!!" Delilah cried in an ear-splitting pitch. As she cried and Kane tried to take the remote from Darla, Oscar silently picked up the ipad, sat on the sofa and played games on it.
Oliver, annoyed and a little hurt from the racket, crept out of the living room without being noticed and slowly walked up to his room, when someone said, "Ollie, there you are!" Oliver turned around and saw a girl; she had long brown hair tied in 2 ponytails with purple scrunchies, an aqua blue shirt with short, wide sleeves with the bottom of the shirt cut into a curvy pattern. She had denim coloured shorts and bright yellow sandals with a blue jewel around the top of her ankles. Topped with that, she had lightly tanned skin and blue eyes (like Darla) and wore gold bangles around her wrist and an expensive curved gold necklace. "Sandy!" exclaimed Oliver, coming back down the stairs and hugging her. Out of all of the children of Edmund and Clarice, Oliver liked Sandy most, as they were very close and were both 16. Although Sandy had an interest in expensive and fine clothing, she was not as spoilt and impatient as her younger siblings, or her mother. "Ollie, I'm sorry about your dad, he was the greatest uncle I ever asked for!" Sandy then said, sadness entering her voice.
"I know," replied Oliver, placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm already missing him, and I feel sorry for you and your family too." Just then, Farah appeared from the kitchen and noticed Oliver and Sandy standing in the hallway. "Ollie! Sandy! I see you're talking to each other already!" she exclaimed happily. "your mother and I are going to prepare dinner, mostly me though. Why don't you go upstairs while we cook it?" "Ok, Aunt Farah," replied Sandy, smiling. "Let's go, Ollie!" She then ran happily upstairs, grabbing Oliver's hand, him following behind her. Darla then peeked out of the living room door after Farah left, frowning. Clarice then walked out of the kitchen and noticed Darla. "What are you doing, honey?" she asked, holding a bouquet of flowers. "Watching, like you told me to," replied Darla emotionlessly. "and where did you get those flowers?" "Oh, you're Aunt Farah gave them to me," said Clarice, pulling a fake smile, then immediately dropped it and added, "what a lame way to cover up her hate for me. Anyways, keep your guard. You know what I told you to do..." "Yes mother," responded Darla, frowning in sadness and confidence...
