1. Loss (Oliver's Pov)

Those words would scar me for life. My face in shock and horror, tears dripping from my widened eyes. Those 4 plain words; "Your father is dead."

It was just a normal day back from school and I did my usual routine, taking my shoes off, putting my books and bag away and greet my mother, but this time, my mother was sitting on her bed, cold and frozen in shock. I walked up to her and tapped a shoulder gently, sat beside her and asked, "what's wrong, mum??" She turned to me, her eyes red from crying with tears still streaming down her face, and that's when she said it. She replied with, "Oliver, your father is dead," without any warning or hesitance. The shock of those words turned me into the same state my mum was in; teary, frozen. I embraced her through my tears and we sat on the bed for hours, hugging each other tightly. Things were going to change forever.

I didn't text any of my friends- except Lumina, my best friend since childhood. She's a supportive person who really has your back especially if you're close to her. I knew she was one of the only people who could cheer me up. I texted her saying:

O: Hey Loomey..
L: Ollie wassup! R u ok?
O: Not rlly..
L: Oh no.. Is everything OK??
O: Well... I just found out my dad died...
L: omg I'm so sorry!!!! Do you know how he died??
O: No not yet. Probably during his army missions or something
L: Don't worry, Ollie. If you feel depressed or upset at any time you can come to mine. Even though my little sister may be around I'm sure my mum can help you too. Gtg, looking after my sister. Cya, and stay strong xx
O: Bye 👋x

I put down my phone. Yes, Lumina and I send kisses, but it's in a friendly way; she's attracted to women. People usually taunt us for it but they forget that she's a lesbian, plus you don't want to get in a fight with her. Anyways, I then watched my favourite films and ate about a million chocolate snacks to ease the pain, but all I could think of was my dad, who made me cry even more, especially during comedy scenes of the films. "Oliver! Dinner's ready! I know you're sad but we can still talk.." With that, I paused my film and slumped downstairs, heavily depressed...
