Lucinda nervously looked at her phone, checking the time. Looking up, she scanned the street. "Ugh, where are they? They were supposed to be here 20 minutes ago!"
"Don't worry Lucinda. I'm sure Zane and Kawaii~Chan will be here any minute!" exclaimed a cheerful Kim. She began to add helium to the purple and green balloons.
Lucinda sighed. "They better be. We can't have an amazing 'Welcome Home' party without cake!"
"Lucinda, you need to relax!" said Katelyn, as she hung up purple and green streamers on the tops of Aphmau's garage doors. "We still have time before Aphmau and Travis get here. Besides, you know how Kawaii~Chan can get with her sweets. She won't stop until it's completely perfect."
"Ugh. Yeah, you're right. I just want this to be amazing for them. They really deserve this, especially after what happened. I couldn't imagine having to stay at Starlight alone. Especially with all the bad memories there." Lucinda shuddered. "I'm still trying to get over it."
"It's okay Lucinda. We get it," Garroth said. He was kneeling in Aphmau's yard preparing the confetti cannon for his friends' arrival. "There was a lot that happened at Starlight, especially to those two. I guess that's what makes this party so important. But don't worry. This party is sure to be amazing. Just stay positive!" He looked up from his confetti cannon and smiled at Lucinda.
Finished with the balloons, Kim rushed over to Lucinda, giving her a tight hug. "Just know we're always here for you. No matter what, we're all going to get through this together."
Lucinda smiled and hugged back. "Thanks, Kim. I'm so glad to have friends like you."
Kim chuckled. "Anytime."
Once they had loosened their hug, Kim went to help Katelyn hang up the rest of the streamers while Lucinda backed up on Aphmau's driveway to see what they had prepared for the party. "Wow, this is all starting to come together!"
"A-hehehe! It's only missing one thing!" chirped a familiar voice.
Lucinda spun around and smiled at the sight of Kawaii~Chan and Zane. They were both holding a cake; one for Aphmau and one for Travis. They both said Welcome Home! in white icing and with white pearl sprinkles that bordered the edges. Not only that, but each cake (depending on who it was for) had Aphmau and Travis' favorite colors and a portrait of them.
"What would a party be without cake?" Zane said, his eyes sparkling.
"They're- They're amazing!" Lucinda exclaimed. "Definitely worth the wait!"
Kawaii~Chan giggled and blushed a little. "Thanks! Kawaii~Chan woke up super early and Zane came to help Kawaii~Chan. Sorry we took so long, there was just so much to do! Anyway, we have chocolate cake for Travis, and red velvet for Aphmau! It's their favorites!" She smiled broadly.
"Guys... I don't know what to say!" Lucinda said, happily.
"How about... thank you?" Zane smirked, jokingly.
Lucinda laughed. "Thank you. Now, let's get those cakes on the table!" She motioned them to the table.
Zane and Kawaii~Chan walked to the table and placed the cakes down on the table, side by side.
"So, do you guys think we're ready?" Lucinda asked.
"Not yet," said Zane. "Me and four have one more surprise."
Kawaii~Chan winced at this name. He still doesn't remember... she thought. I better not get upset though. I'll just ruin the big day.
