New School

The sun peaked in through the curtains of her apartment. The bed is made and Chia was in her kitchen making her morning energizer, coffee. The smell of freshly made coffee filled her apartment. She was already dressed in a navy blue hoodie paired with sky blue jeans, all ready and set to step into her new university life. She sipped the coffee while leaning on to her apartment balcony, watching the society wake up. 

She locked and exited her building, walking towards the nearby metro. The streets were busy, but the sights were always similar to her hometown. Guess that's what makes us all human. Children getting off for school, youngsters for colleges, little bit elder to earn and the older generations meeting each other and watching their generations ahead growing. Chia walked watching all these towards her destination. 

The metro too was crowded as expected, amidst the chaos, she felt her nervousness for her first day of college. Even though she had met Sang Tae, the excitement is still felt with a tinge of nervousness. 

On reaching the University station, she straight-headed up to their meet-up point as decided on them yesterday. The place they had lunch the other day. Chia waited near the corner as she arrived early.

The morning was busy, people moving around, some on their phones, some casually strolling by, some with their air pods on, some vibing on the street. The wait didn't last longer as Sang Tae came around the corner, hopping. Chia received him with a sweet smile.

" Annyeong Sang Tae Oppa 😚......" The smile was sickeningly sweet that Sang Tae knew he stepped into trouble. " Am I cute?🧚‍♀️" Sang Tae walked straight ahead as if he didn't know Chia.

" Oppa why are you ignoring me after buying me lunch🥺"This being said some of the passer-by's attention turned to the duo. Sang Tae sensed the wrath that called upon him. He turned to Chia and said," Chia you are cuter than I am I take back my words, now stop this aeygyo of yours I am cringing hard, Its hard to bear". Sang Tae bent on his knees on the ground, now it was Chia's turn to get flustered. She gave a peal of nervous laughter and tried to shove Sang Tae off the ground. 

Let's say there was a whole extra drama on the street that day.

" I am hungry after putting up with your extra ass, feed me", Sangtae said nudging Chia on her shoulder. " Ok let's grab something from the cafe, your treat and I'm not denying it".

She smoothly entered the nearby cafe without giving time for Sangtae to even oppose her statement. Tae shook his head at his new best friend's behavior. He just moved along with her to grab their take-out to join their classes. He paid for whatever Chia bought, and after getting their bags left the store.

" I would treat you soon after I get myself a part-time job Tae, I might have to balance my expenses since it's just the beginning". Sangtae walked along her side munching the muffins Chia bought for him. " Ok, I forgive you since you were considerate enough to buy me muffins after you almost killed me with Muffin cravings that you instilled". Chia laughed at her new buddy's dramatic self. 

They entered the university and walked to their block with all laugh and jokes. However, Chia had to report to the office then to their department dean on her enrollment as the new admission. Sangtae however insisted on following her around as it's her first day, Chia after a whole 10 minutes of bickering agreed to it. 

After the meetings both moved to the classes, Chia was thankful that Tae joined her, as her clumsy self almost got lost going ahead of her companion while on their trail to the office. Tae familiarized her with some of the spots that are calm and less busy.

Both entered the class, on her arrival, Chia obviously got some attention as she was a new face there. She gave short smile to whoever stared at her and moved to Sangtae who was busy getting a seat for them to sit together.

Currently, they were in classes for International Trade Policies, being a popular paper among economics students the class is filled with students from all semesters. They moved to the middle back and took the empty seats there.

Soon after settling down, a professor for the course entered the class. The man was younger and was in his late 20s he must have been a prodigy to get into college at such an early age, Chia was in her own thoughts that she almost forgot she was staring at her Professor. Sangtae nudged her to wake her up from her daydreaming as the said professor had already caught her staring. Chia soon came out of her thought as she felt a pain in her elbows from the pinching done by Tae. It was then she noticed most of the students were staring at her, causing her to stand up unconsciously.

"Looks like we got a new face here, can introduce since you are already up", said the Professor.

Chia nodded her head and said," Annyeonghaseyo, I am Chia, I will be an Exchange student for this semester. I hope we get along well", finishing her introduction Chia bowed to the class and took her seat as the professor signaled her to sit down. Sitting down she heard a snicker from Sangtae, to which she send a glare. The class was interesting, and she was inspired by how the class went by.

After the classes ended Chia and Sangtae fooled around for a while and Chia asked him about part-time jobs available inside the university. 

" I think it will be difficult to get job inside the uni, as the year had started for some time, most of the places must have been filled up already, but still we can enquire in the student council tomorrow".

" Oooh, Thanks Sangtae ya, I will just get something from the store and go back, I need to check up on someone".

" Oh, you have acquaintances here".

" Yup, I got an eonnie, who is from here, we met through the internet, and she helped me get an apartment here".

" Woah..... Online chingu, Ok then let's meet tomorrow, Bye then".

Chia smiled and waved her hand as they went their ways apart.
