Chapter 2- no turning back

"Harvey Specter, who is calling?" a deep voice asked over the phone.

Nina took a deep breath, calming her nerves, a voice was telling her this was a bad idea. But she is doing this for her husband who is seriously poisoned, "Hello, this is Nina" she said very confidently.

"Last name?" the man questioned.

Oh dear. There was no turning back now. "Nina Ross" she replied.

She could hear that very uncomfortable silence as her last name came out of her mouth. The silence was so bad, it was deafening. The nerves kicked back in. It had been 10 years since she had even seen him, let alone talk to him.

"Oh, hi Nina, how are you?" he spoke sounding very shocked.

"I am good thank you, how are you?" she commented. She was breathing very loudly now, if she could hear it, he probably can too.

"Nina, it's been 10 years why all of a sudden are you calling me?" He asked, sounding rather fed up

"I just really needed Louis Litt's contact information and I didn't know how else to get them" Nina replied with a sound of hurt in her voice.

"Why wouldn't you call the main desk and ask that way, and why of all people Louis?" Now he sounded slightly angry

"I never thought of calling the main desk and I need a lawyer and I remember seeing Louis's partnership in the news a few months back and-" she was soon interrupted

"-LOUIS? you want Louis to handle your problem. I was in the papers only last week for my promotion so why wouldn't you ask me?" He sounded furious now.

"Well Harvey me and Louis don't have such bad of a past as you and I and I knew you would have said no if I had had asked so I would rather have Louis handle my case as you will probably fuck it up." Nina said now also sounding mad.

"You knew I would say no? What so suddenly you know me so well just because you had me involved in your cheating against your husband? I am a far better lawyer than Louis and I definitely would not fuck it up." He replied to her

"Maybe I wasn't worried you would say no, maybe I just don't want you working my case and would prefer Louis, and I apologise for having you involved with that knowing what happened with your mother, but I need you to help me here, I just need Louis" she sounded out of breath.

"No, I will take your case, I'm not working on anything at the moment-"

"No Harvey I would like Louis on this case, not you." she cut him off.

"Goddamn it Nina, you made me a man, you made me that man who YOU cheated on with, you were married to James for five years and still did it anyway, even after I told you all about my mother and what she did to my family, you used me to go around making your husband a fool for 4 months straight, when I found out and left you, you went back to him and you're still with him. So, unless you want me to tell him what happened 10 years ago, you will let me take your case." Harvey yelled down the phone at her.

Nina had a lump in her throat. To be fair he doesn't know about James, but it hurts that he threatens to break up her family for his own pleasure especially whilst he was in such critical condition. She knew it was a mistake to call him, she should have just called the fucking front desk but was too stupid to realise that was an option.

"Fine, you win Harvey." She commented, worm out from the arguing.

"Great, drop by Pearson Hardman tomorrow morning and we can discuss your case."

"Thanks Harvey." She quickly ended the call after this.

What has she gotten herself into? She just wanted Louis to handle the case for her and get it over and done with but now she has gotten herself involved with her ex-affair. What if James really does find out the truth about what happened with Harvey.

A part of her feels as though this was fate that brought them back together, maybe this is how the stars were aligned, for them to get back in contact.

NO. she thought to herself, how could she think these things whilst her husband is laying there with tubes coming out of his body and she is thinking about getting involved with another man. But she couldn't help it.

Nina quickly ran to the bathroom, tidied herself up and went back to sit with Mike.

"Mom where were you, did you get that Louis dude to help us sue that company that got dad sick?" he asked.

"Yes Michael, I am to go to Pearson Hardman to talk about the case tomorrow morning" she doesn't know why she didn't tell him that Harvey was handling it instead, but she just kept it to herself for now. She was just worried about tomorrow and what if he decided to tell James or worse even Mike to embarrass her the way she embarrassed him all those years ago.
