part 3- a new case

Donna walked into Harvey's office. He was sat on his long, black leather couch, with a glass of scotch in his left hand, listening to his dad's album on his record player. He just looked so upset staring out of the tall windows and onto the New York City. She came and sat down next to him and just waited for him to say something. With Harvey and Donna in moments like these that are meant to be awkward it just isn't. Its comfortable.

After being perched next to him for no more than 60 seconds, he turned to her and said "We took on a new case"

"I know" she replied with, of course she knew. She always does. She's Donna.

"It's with Nina Ross" he said with hurt in his tone.

Shocked she said, "You mean as in Nina from 10 years ago?"

"Yes, the Nina that used me to cheat on her husband. The Nina who I was in love with, but my goddamn moral code was too high, so I had to dump her, yeah that Nina." the lawyer snapped back.

"Harvey, calm down. You are New York's best closer, do what you do best and just get it settled and done and you don't have to think about her ever again." She reassured him before opening her arms to offer an embrace

He took it. "But Donna you don't understand, she doesn't want this to be settled, she wants to sue a company which means its most likely going to be taken to court and it's going to be dragged out so It isn't like I can avoid her-"

"Just hand the case off to Louis, he is a junior partner and maybe she's feeling the same thing, Harvey. How did this come around anyway?" Donna asked, putting her hand on his shoulder for comfort.

"Earlier this evening I got a call from a random number, so I answered, and it was her. She was asking for Louis's details as she wanted him to handle the case-"

"Then how have you been roped into take it?" She interrupted him again.

"Well, if you would stop interrupting me maybe I could fill you in" he said sarcastically rolling his eyes. "After she asked me for Louis's information, I said that I wasn't busy at the moments and I pressured her to let me take this case, like yeah we aren't together anymore and yeah she hurt me when I found out what she did to me, but I still love her and maybe this is a way for us to reconnect" he finished talking.

"Harvey, she has a husband!" Donna exclaimed

"I know I know, anyway you can leave now as I'm going home, she's coming to the offices to talk about the case tomorrow morning, and before you interrupt me again. I am going to take this case and I don't care if it drags on for months and months, I'm going to help her because she needs it." he said to her. She dare say anything or he will bite her head off with the mood he is in right now, so she got up, grabbed her back and started walking to the elevators.

"Night Donna" he quietly shouted from inside of his office as she was walking away, giving her a flirtatious wink as she rolled her eyes.
