"Please leave your message after the beep..."
"Hey Jess, the time you hear this you'll already be in America and have already walked away from my complicated feelings," I say wiping the tear from my eye, and taking a shaky breath.
"and no I don't want you to think about me, I want you to move on and love someone who isn't broken," I bite my bottom lip to stop it from quivering, and shut my eyes tightly as I possibly can. just thinking that thought hurt.
"I just wanted to tell you something that I couldn't tell you to your face"
"I love you," I state as my voice cracks "And I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner" I took a pause trying to stop myself from sobbing.
Flashback
" I Love you holden" she spoke looking back and forth between the floor and me, with tears in her eyes.
"N-" I go to say but she cuts me off by speaking again, whilst grabbing my hands
"And I know you said I can't fall for you" she continues to look down"But I can't help myself but to fall for you"
"and I know you are scared hell I am too" she finally looks into my eyes and that's when I could see the vulnerability hidden within them "But I'm also excited because it is you and I hope you feel the same"
Flashback Over
"I remember when you told me" I give a pathetic chuckle "I was so happy because damn did I feel it too"
"And no I wasn't actually scared of telling you I was scared of your reaction" I let out the little sob.
I took a couple of deep breathes before continuing.
"love...love is a hard concept for me" Another shaky breathe "whenever i heard it, it was misused. Love was the disguise for hate and any other word that is toxic"
"i froze because...well I waited for the take back at the end" i let tough a sigh as i wiped my eye from the tear that escaped the closed lids
"the time I realized you meant it you were already in the car leaving my house" I let out a pathetic sigh that sounded like a whine
"And I'm so sorry I'll never get to tell you I love you face to face"
I let in a shaky breathe before continuing
