thirty eight
"If you want us to stay home, please just say so," Luke whispered to Cy. The blonde had his hands on the younger boy's shoulders as he looked directly into the dark brown eyes of the almost-sixteen-year-old.
"It's okay," he whispered back, a smile lining his lips.
Luke knew he was lying, "It's only going to be for five days, Cal and Ella are gonna check in on you every morning and night, and probably afternoon too." Luke hoped they'd stay for at least a few hours, he didn't like Cy being alone in this huge house. He didn't know how the boy wasn't afraid to be alone in this mansion.
Cyril wasn't afraid of being alone. "I know, I'll be okay. I'll Skype you guys around dinner time here, don't worry about me. Have fun in London, enjoy yourself." He was still smiling, but Luke only saw hurt ringing in his eyes.
This vacation was supposed to save Michael and Luke, but every minutes Luke seemed to get more mad at Mike. He could've invited Cy, could've bought a plane ticket for the younger Clifford, too. Who the hell lets a fifteen year old stay alone?
"Promise me you will be okay," Luke whispered into Cyril's ear as he pulled him into a hug. He ran his arms up and down the bulky arms, squeezing his fingers over the material of the red crewneck.
Luke smiled as he realized Cy was wearing his sweater.
"Baby, we've gotta go!" Michael called from the foyer.
Luke squeezed Cy once more, a feeling sinking in his gut that something wasn't right. He wasn't sure if it was about the vacation. Luke was worried he would get into a fight with Mike as they were thousands of miles away.
But, he was more afraid of Cyril. As he looked into the eyes of the teenager, he didn't see anything, only an empty boy.
Luke kissed Cy's head before heading to the foyer, carrying his luggage bag with him. He handed over his bag to his fiancé as he turned to Ella, hugging her as well. "Please look out for him."
She nodded, kissing his cheek, "As long as you look out for the baby." El smiled as she put her hands on his fairly visible bump. Her hands were cold and make Luke flinch with a small giggle erupting from his lips.
Michael pulled lightly on the back of his light pink blouse, lovingly pulling him against Mike. The older boy wrapped his hand around Luke, "You excited?"
"Yeah," he smiled, forgetting his worries.
He waved goodbye to Ella, calling out an 'I love you' to Cyril. He stepped outside, Calum waiting to take them to the airport. Luke just didn't have a good feeling in his gut. He had a really bad feeling and he didn't know what it was.
Luke stepped into the backseat as Michael rode in the front next to Calum. Mike and Cal weren't really friends, but they were nice acquaintances. They were able to hold a conversation, Calum afraid to speak his opinion. After all, Michael is his boss.
"Mike, I have a bad feeling," Luke whimpered finally. It was about five minutes in and the feeling has only gotten worse.
"Is it the baby?" Michael asked as he turned around. His green eyes filled with worry as he looked at the bump, expecting an alien to come out of it or something.
"No, I don't think so. I just think something bad is gonna happen."
Michael, of course, took that a little more serious than usual. His parents passed when their plane went down somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, and he's been very weary of the whole flying thing since then.
Michael was extremely over protective of his future child as well. He didn't like people touching the bump, looking at the bump, even breathing on the bump bothered him. It was his child and he didn't want anything to happen to it.
"Just take some deep breaths, tell me if it gets worse." His tone was concerned and it make Luke feel a little better.
The feeling in his stomach wasn't wrong.
