Reagan Grace Warren's childhood was unconventional to say the least.
Being the eldest daughter to demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, perhaps she should've expected such a childhood given what her parents did for a living and all the supernatural artifacts in their home.
Reagan's childhood was a lonely one. She was always outcasted from "normal" society, after all no sane parent wanted their child to associate with the local "freak."
Reagan had inherited her mother's gift of clairvoyance at an early age, but that wasn't the extent of her abilities.
She could see ghosts and spirits hover around the items they were attached to, hear their whispers and their cries for help. For some she could feel their loneliness, the desire for someone to talk to or even just acknowledge them.
Reagan understood the desire of having someone to talk to more than most, so she often spoke to them. Now for the more dangerous spirits or entities that were, for all intense and purposes, trapped in the Warren's home. Those she made sure to steer clear of, she might've only been a young child but she understood how truly malevolent and dangerous some of them were - and how much they craved her power for their own.
Reagan's first friend was a demon.
Hard to believe I know but that was the truth.
The day Ed and Lorraine brought the Annabelle doll and the demon she housed into their home Reagan was drawn to the demon almost like a magnet.
The demon, Malthus he was called, was also drawn to this tiny human girl with a powerful aura of darkness that wrapped around and protected her like a blanket.Reagan could see Malthus hovering around the doll the moment her parents brought him inside.
It was the twilight hour when Reagan crept silently down the halls of her home into the artifact room to meet with Malthus.
To say the demon was surprised would be an understatement, no human aside from a cultist had ever approached him without even a trace of fear, yet this small girl did with a serene smile on her round face. She'd pressed her warm, tiny hand against the church glass that trapped him and after a moments hesitation he pressed his larger clawed, black hand in the same place she did.
Every evening after that she would creep down to the artifact room and speak with him like he was a normal person rather than an ancient demon.
After a few nights Malthus started talking with her, he'd tell her about the places he'd seen and the life he'd "lived" and Reagan would listen and occasionally ask him questions. Soon she told him about her life and her parents, she would tell him of her days and show him things she'd brought for him to help him entertain himself while he was alone. Two years passed for the unlikely duo and eventually Reagan's powers grew stronger. She told Malthus that they frightened her because they lashed out when she was in perceived danger or if she was upset - she was only eight and already considered a freak to everyone else and her new telekinetic abilities weren't helping her.
