chapter 9: clutzy kim taehyung

"Hello."

Jungkook, who had been taking the lift up to his office in silence the next morning, looked up when the only other person in the lift spoke to him. It was only then that he realised who she was - Taehyung's crush, the gamer girl.

Jisoo was smiling directly at him. "You're... Jungkook, right?"

"Oh, hello!" Jungkook bowed a little, slightly embarrassed that he hadn't noticed her earlier on, because he was so preoccupied by his own thoughts. "Good morning, Jisoo-ssi. You and the rest of your team will be working with us here from now...?"

"Yeah-" Jisoo chuckled. "I guess we'll be some sort of colleagues from now...?"

"For the next 6 weeks at least-" Jungkook laughed. "I guess we'll be seeing each other often."

Jisoo laughed.

Ding! The lift arrived at the 7th floor and the door opened.

"How long have you been working here?" Jisoo asked Jungkook out of curiosity.

"Me? This is only my second week here-" Jungkook said sheepishly, as he tapped his card at the turnstile and made his way in. "I'm only interning here over the summer break, so I'm the most junior member of our team... actually."

"You are?" Jisoo gasped as she followed Jungkook inside. "I really couldn't tell. But you know what? I'm the most junior on our MY Tech team as well. I only joined about two years ago... I still have plenty to learn."

"Me too, I've already learnt so much in my one and a half weeks here..." Jungkook empathised as he walked down the aisle towards his cubicle. "Oh, Jisoo-ssi - where's your cubicle, by the way? Do you know yet?"

"Oh-?" Jisoo pointed, as she spotted her name on the cubicle frontage. "It's right here!"

"Oh-? Right next to mine?"

"What a coincidence," Jisoo said with a chuckle. "Looks like we'll be seeing each other even more often then, Jungkook-ssi."

Jungkook chuckled. "I know right."

Bang! Taehyung walked into the office a little while later, making a loud noise at the turnstile.

Jisoo, who had been doing some readings, almost jumped up from her seat. "Woah, what's wrong with that guy?"

Jungkook winced at the sound of Taehyung clamouring to his table and making a huge fuss. "Probably some personal problems, don't worry about him."

That were somehow probably related to the new collaboration with MY Tech.

"You two seem close," Jisoo pointed out observantly. "You've known each other for a while now?"

"Best friends," Jungkook put it as it was. "For as long as I could remember."

"Then..."

"No, I got into this company by myself," Jungkook felt the need to point it out. "I applied without telling him, and got a place here."

"Ah, that's cool-" Jisoo smiled awkwardly. "I wasn't really asking about that, though. I was asking if you wanted to go check in on him."

"He likes to be left alone when he's frustrated," Jungkook explained. "You could go check in on him though, he'd probably be alright with that... especially since it's you."

"What's that even supposed to mean?"

"Nothing much, other than that he'd really appreciate you going to check on him."

Jisoo hesitated.

"Just go," Jungkook gave her the push she needed.

Seconds later, Jisoo found herself standing in front of Taehyung's cubicle, leaning over and looking down at the top of his head as he typed at his laptop, completely ignoring her, unlike what his normal self would usually do.
