"Jeon Jungkook, you are the smartest, most talented, most creative, most ambitious and amazing person I know. I believe in you and just know you're going to do amazing things for Yeongwonhi Tech! Go, go, go! I will always be proud of you, my son!"
"Okay, now that last part wasn't necessary-" Jungkook winced at the final word his best friend had uttered without any hint of shyness nor embarrassment. "You are not my father."
"Well, technically I am...?" Taehyung repeated pompously, because that was exactly the kind of person he was - a person who said whatever he wanted. "Because who loves you more than I do?"
With over 15 years of dealing with this guy's often cringey but sometimes sweet nonsense, Jungkook still got the chills when he heard such things from him. Well, at least it was good to know that whoever Taehyung's future girlfriend was, she'd be the happiest girl in the world to be able to hear such words on a daily basis.
"Don't be nervous, okay, JK?" Taehyung patted Jungkook on the head fondly, as he adjusted his shirt collar a little. "Shake it out a little. The company chose you because you are worthy of taking on this role, so there's no need to be nervous or anything."
"Hyung, I think you should be saying that to yourself though...?" Jungkook laughed as he glanced down at Taehyung's trembling hand. "You're shaking like a leaf."
"No, I'm not," Taehyung let out a shaky laugh as he hurriedly put down his hand. "I'm just excited - excited that we're gonna become colleagues."
"I'm looking forward to working with you too, to be honest, hyung." Jungkook smiled. "I wonder how you're like at work."
"Still the same charismatic, good-looking guy I am when I'm outside," Taehyung said shamelessly with a little wink. "You'll see."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, letting out a helpless chuckle as he glanced up at the screen display above the lift door. "Oh, we're here."
Ding! The lift door opened and Taehyung led the way out of the lift and towards a turnstile. Tapping his staff pass on the card reader, he pushed his way pass the turnstile into another room, and Jungkook followed suit. The room was huge, filled with around fifty or so cubicles.
"Don't get lost, JK. Stick close to me," Taehyung warned, motioning for Jungkook to follow closely as he navigated his way through the rows after rows of cubicles. Finally, he stopped at a cubicle in the far corner of the room. "There we go, here's your cubicle."
It was spacious and private, which was exactly what Jungkook wanted in a cubicle.
"Put down your stuff and I'll bring you to go meet your mentor," Taehyung said with a bright smile as he motioned for Jungkook to follow him again. "She'll be happy to see you."
Jungkook hurriedly slung his backpack onto his chair, tidied his clothes and hair a little and followed after Taehyung back down the main aisle and down a nearby corner.
"Jieun-ssi."
Jungkook peeked over Taehyung's shoulder, only to see a young lady with her airpods on, crouched over at her table, ferociously coding some bash script on her laptop. Her table was extremely neat and tidy - not many pictures of her with her friends and family unlike some other cubicles Jungkook had passed by earlier. It seemed that work was her primary focus, and Jungkook was here for it.
"Jieun-ssi?"
Taehyung leaned in closer, hoping to get her attention, but her eyes remained glued to her screen, completely oblivious of the fact that there were two people standing right behind her, trying desperately to get her attention.
