I can't wait to celebrate dia de los muertos today. I jumped out of my bed and went over to my box with my mariachi costume. I looked at myself in the mirror while putting on my face paint to look like a skeleton and put on my sombrero and headed out the door, I then ran to the kitchen and everyone looked at me like I was either crazy or going to a costume party.

"Uhh peso matey, what's the special costume for?"kwazii asked. I was happy he asked because either was going to explain the entire reason. "It's November 1st, dia de los muertos, or translated to day of the dead. Its a Mexican tradition where we celebrate the lives our dead relatives and friends once lived. We put their pictures on an alter and suround it with marigolds and all their favourite things, we make calaveras out of sugar and call them sugar skulls and we dress up and put facepaint to look like a skeleton and use tissue paper to make papel picado, or a special type of bunting. I was wondering if we could celebrate?" I finished my long sentence and then thought we weren't allowed, but then the captain spoke up. "Well I think it's an excellent idea peso, all these traditions you do sound really fun and interesting."

I smiled and then went to my chair at the table and started eating some cereal. Once I was finished I thanked the vegimals for the food and rushed back upstairs to my room.

Peso said a lot of things about this dia de los muertos tradition and I was exited, I would like to put up a picture of my great grandparents, I don't know anyone in my family that has died. I didn't know them but I had a picture of them strangely enough.

I then went to go look for him and then saw hanging up some paper flowers, probably because we were under the oceans and if we grew flowers they would most likely die. I looked further and saw him place a black and white picture and a small alter.

I had just finished setting up the alter and placed a picture of my great aunt, uncle from my mums side of the family, and a picture of my grandfather.

My grandpa taught me many things and useful tips about the world. Like how to keep a spare £10 in my hidden pocket incase of emergencies. I then spoke in Spanish, the language of my culture. "Hola tia, tio, abuelo, los extraño mucho a todos, pero afortunadamente puedo celebralo hoy. Estky seguro de que mama puso sus fotos y puede venir a visatarnios. Te quiero mucho. (Translation : hello aunt, uncle, grandpa, I miss you all so much but luckily I can celebrate today. I'm sure mom put your pictures up and you can come and visit us. I love you a lot.)"

I then turned to see tne captain with a sad face. "Hello captain, is everything ok?" I asked. "Oh it's just this tradition you do it's kinda sad but you do this, but you do it for good reason." The captain replied, I understood what he meant, a lot of people when doing this tradition get a little sentimental but the belief of having your family that passed on in spirit makes you happy.

I then got up and ran to the game pod carrying string and scissors along with a bottle of glue. I then bumped into dashi while not looking where I was going. "Oh! Sorry peso. What's with the rush?" She questioned. I needed to ask her something anyway. "Sorry dashi, I wasn't looking where I was going. Do you have any tissue paper, or maybe marigolds even though we're under the sea? Oh! And some candles!"

"Hmm let me think, I think I have some tissue paper in my room. As for the marigold we don't have any real live ones, but I think we have plastic or if we don't have that then I have orange tissue paper and we can make paper flowers." She said smiling, I smiled back and we both went into her room. It was covered in pink, a, lot, of pink. I looked around questioning many things before dashi had called to me that she found some arts and crafts supplies and orange tissue paper. "Want some help making this stuff?" I thought for a second then realised I had to bake the traditional bread (the one with a 'X' on it) and I had to also prepare the mixture for the sugar skulls. "No thank you, I have to start on other things while I'm at it, but thank you!" I said gratefully.
