Rose's POV

I woke up to my alarm blaring Riot by Three Days Grace. I groaned and laid my head back down on my pillow. Next thing I know my alarm blared again scaring the hell out of me. I jumped out of bed in a ninja stance and screamed.

"Rose, hurry up you're going to be late for your first day!" My mom yelled from down the stairs.

"Oh, crap. I'm late." I muttered.

I quickly got ready. I pulled on some baby blue skinny jeans,  and an Attack on Titan tank top and my black vans. I swiftly straightened my hair and grabbed my bag. I then realized that I wasn't wearing any makeup. I rushed back to my mirror and did some Smokey eye shadow with some blue eyeliner. Then did a quick coat of mascara and lip gloss. I rushed down the stairs and grabbed some breakfast. My mom was waiting for me with a disapproving look.

"What?" I said a little too bluntly.

"Watch your tone with me young lady. What are you wearing it's like 30 degrees outside?" My mom asked me like I was crazy.

"So." I asked wondering how that was relevant.

By the way, I am from Alaska so the "cold" doesn't really bother me. I actually enjoy it a lot.

"You are wearing a tank top!" My mother said bug eyed.

"So." I said sounding annoyed because I was.

"What did I tell you about your tone Rosetta Anne Black! And you need to put on a jacket it's below freezing outside!" My mom screamed.

I forgot to mention my mom can be a real pain in the a-

"Rosetta are you even listening to me! I said got put on a jacket!" My mom yelled breaking me from my thoughts.

" I heard you mother!" I hissed. "I am not putting on a damn jacket! Now let's go we are late as it is!"

She stood there dumbfounded. I smirked knowing that I just got what I wanted. I walked to the car proudly. The whole drive I was resenting that I even got up this morning. My mom would not shut up about my attitude. When we got to the school I couldn't have been happier. I got to get away from my complaining mother.

I walked in first with a smirk on my face. Some lady up walked up to me which I'm guessing was the principal.

"Hi, you must be the new student Rosetta Black, I'm Mrs. Barnes the principal (bingo!☆) here at Ranchester High School!" She said way to enthusiastically for my liking.

          "It's Rose." I corrected.

"Oh, well Rose it's great to see you joining our school. Seeing your transcript delighted me. A maintained 4.0 GPA throughout your entire high school career. I hope to only see the best out of you. Now let's get your schedule and someone to show you around." She went on, almost losing my attention.

"There you are Jacob! This is the new student Roset- I mean Rose. I would like you to get her schedule and show her around, then take her to class." Mrs. Barnes said brightly.

I gave this Jacob figure a smirk.

"O-kay." He said sheepishly. "I- I'm J- Jake North." He said with a scared smile.

I grinned widely at him seeing that I intimidated him. I'm not a really rude person. I just am very honest and I tend to hit but only jokingly. "I'm Rose Black, Nice to meet you." I said with a natural smile.

I see my mom out of the corner of my eye glaring at me. I know exactly what she's too. She's thinking about my sister how innocent she was and how Jake looked too. Jake has short brown hair and the most gorgeous ocean blue eyes. Oh gosh, what am I thinking no guys this year I need to focus so I can get a scolarship and I can go to Yale and get my PhD. Anyways, Jake is tall and pretty muscular. My guess, and hope,  is that he's a basketball player.

"R-Rose." He stammered. Releasing me from my thoughts. "We should probably get going first hour ends soon. We have the same class this hour with Ms. Baker." He rambled which was particularly adorable. No Rose you have a future to go after. No relationships or little crushes.

"Yeah let's get going Jacob."  Said putting emphasis on the J.

We walked out of the office and Headed towards Where I'm guessing is my locker. I followed behind Jake like a lost puppy. We arrived at locker 122. That mine! I dialed the combo and put my stuff in. After just a little bit of small talk we walked to first hour. A.P. Calculus.

"Mr. North, glad you could join us. Why are you late?" Ms. Baker questioned impatiently.

"I-I was showing the new girl around." Jake said quiet but respectfully.

"That would be me, Rose Black." I said smirking.

"Well Nice to meet you Ms. Black now please have a seat." She said pointing at a desk.

As if right on time the bell rang signalling the end of this period. I made my way to the choir room. Thinking about what song I should audition with, If I end up having to audition. I think I'll do bound to you. I enter the choir room it's a quaint space. Very inviting and cozy. I am surprise to see that I am the only one there. This younger looking lady, who was obviously the teacher, walked out what looked like an office. She eyed me confusingly and then lit up like the forth of July.

"You must be the new student!" She gushed.

"Yep, that would be me, the names Rose Black." I said with a small smile. "So am I going to have to audition because I will be more than happy to." I said genuinely because I haven't gotten to sing in front of a group of people in forever.

"Yes you will. What song would you like to do? You may do it acappella or karaoke." She said. I still don't know her name.

"I will do Bound to You by Christina Aguilera acappella. Oh, what's your name?" I asked.

"I'm Amanda Lee. Everyone calls me Amanda. Also excellent choice you may start after the last bell rings." She said enthusiastically.

I looked around and noticed that students had already flooded in. One boy stuck out particularly. Its that adorable nerd Jacob. I smiled at him. A blush rose to his cheek turning them a dark pink. I smirked when the last bell rang and I stood on the podium and started singing. I looked around at everyone's shocked faces. After I finished I smirked at the loud clapping that erupted around the room.

I got greeted by a few guys and glared at by a few girls I didn't care. I sat by Jacob in the back and then got told that I would be singing soprano for choir which were seated right in front of the bases, where Jacob was. The rest of the day went by I met a few people and got glared at by a few. I was so exhausted.

I walked in my house and grabbed a snack then layed down on the couch while watching TV. I soon drifted to sleep with just one thought on my mind.

Him.
