"Hmm . . .? A notebook?"

Light Yagami's eyebrows perked up as he watched the black book fall from the sky, pages fluttering like wings desperately trying to fly. He observed his classmates' faces to see if anyone else noticed it, but no one seemed to.

After classes ended, Light made his way to the notebook. Surprisingly, it was still there. He bent over to pick it up, but before his fingers touched it, his friend came bounding to his side.

"Light-kun!" She called as she ran to Light's side. He stood up. "I finished School Judgement."

He nodded. "How was it, Lisa-chan?"

Light doesn't know why Lisa started taking a liking to him. They met this year, and for some reason, always made an effort to talk to him. She sat diagonally from him during class, and would often try to strike up conversations during lectures. She was hard to ignore. The only times Light could really focus on what was being taught was when Lisa was reading manga.

So Light- knowing that Lisa liked reading manga- told her today to read a manga called School Judgement. It was one of the few mangas he himself had read and was surprised to find that Lisa hadn't heard of it yet.

"I liked it!" She said, "It's a really neat concept, a court adjourned in an elementary school. The main character, that red-headed bowl-cut boy, is kinda lame, which most main characters are."

For some unknown reason, Light strangely took offense to that. But he brushed it off.

"Anyway, Light-kun, wanna go to the coffee shop with me?"

He eyed the notebook on the ground anxiously. "Well, I wanted to-"

"Did someone lose a notebook?" She inquired loudly and dropped down to inspect it. "It looks like it's in great condition.

Anyway, wanna go?"

Light made an annoyed sound through his teeth. The notebook had something strange about it, and he desperately wanted to know what it was. Notebooks don't just fall from the sky on a daily basis!

"C'mon Light-kun." She frowned and stood back up. "I kinda have some homework that won't get done without you. Do you have any plans?"

"No,"

"Then come," She started walking away, taking large strides.

Light looked behind him one last time, before following her.
