Chapter 10

NOT EDITED, Not like any other parts of my story are anyways, but i'm working on that.

"Grayson, I really appreciate you helping Leah yesterday morning, ever since Ann died things have been hard rasing Leah, I really want to thank you" 

I was currently standing around the corner listening to Dad and Graysons conversation, Im horrible, I know. but I heard my name and automatically started listening in,

"Aaron, it's fine man, theres not much I wouldn't do for you or Leah, you guys are really all I have left."

I smiled at that but It was also sad, I just hope he doesn't accidentally slip up and say something about us. 

"Same here, were both glad to have you around" I couldn't see dad but I knew he was smiling. I was smiling too, having Grayson around was pretty damn awesome.

"Listen, don't mention this to Leah, But Addison wants me to fly out this weekend. and Chances are i'll be gone for a while. I'm not sure how long, but it will be a while" What the hell? Why doesn't he want to tell me this?! 

"Aaron, Are you sure you shouldn't tell her? For christ sake, you can't just tell her the night before you leave" Thanks Grayson, you're 100% right. 

I hear dad let out a frustrated sigh, "You're right. I'll tell her tonight over dinner" I decided I had enough listening into the conversation, I was going back up to my room and watching Ghost Adventures.

I quietly climbed the stairs back up to my room and quietly shut my door. I didn't want dad to know i had heard any of that conversation. I bundled back up in my covers and continued my Ghost Adventures marathon.

I was almost asleep and there was a knock at my door.

"Come in!" I yelled

The door slightly opened and Grayson stuck his head through and then eventually his whole body. he  walked over and laid beside me.

"Gray-" I started to say something and he cut me off.

"Your dads not home, he went to the grocery store to buy dinner stuff" he slid under the cover with me and nuzzled in my neck. He draped his arm over my waist and sighed 

"It's killing me not being able to have physical contact whenever I want, I hate it so much" he said and pulled me closer. 

"I know, me too, but like you said. we can get through this" I turned over and he opened his eyes and stared into mine. 

"I know we can" he smiled and kissed me. This guy right here is all i have ever wanted, and this is still so surreal to me. Ever since I was old enough to know what a relationship is, and really started looking at guys in that way, it was always Grayson.  

"Just a heads up, Your dads flying out to boston this weekend to see Addison, I just thought i'd let you know so you dont throw plates or anything at your dad during dinner" 

I chuckled "Yeah, I know. I kind of over heard your guys' conversation. I heard my name and I listened in" 

"I can't believe he wasn't going to tell you, I was ready to slap him upside the head" he had raised his voice a little bit, not hardly enough to qualify as a yell, but not low enough to be at talking range. 

"I know, I'm just glad you talked some sense into him, That would've made me mad" I smiled at him 
"I'm glad hes going, he needs to move on, it's been 6 years, and I don't want to be the cause of him not getting re-married or anything, ya know?" 

I looked at Grayson and he was smiling at me. "You've got the biggest heart, I'm glad you're willing to let him move on, most daughters won't let that happen" 

"I know, I'm eventually going to move out and I don't want him to be on his own" 

Grayson laughed "You're not going to go far baby, You're just going to live across the street from him" 

I smiled, that thought was nice but if me and Grayson didn't work out, I know that would change everything, I want to be completly sure before any of that happens, there are a thousand things that could go wrong, but i'm going to push those thoughts away and hope they never happen. 

I heard a door close downstairs and I told Grayson to get up and go to his room. He jumped up and tried to run to his room quietly, but he failed miserably. He hit his toe on my door and cussed really loudly, I busted out laughing and dad walked up the stairs and saw Grayson wobbling around in the hallway and muttering cusswords. I  kept on laughing. this was too frickin funny. 

"Okay let me guess" Dad started to say while chuckling and Grayson shut him up quickly 

"I fucking hit my toe on the  way out of my room"  

I was still laughing but not as nearly as hard as I was when he first hit his pinky toe. I reached up and wiped the tears from my eyes. 

"Thats the funniest shit i've seen in a while" I said  trying to hold back another laughing fit

"Oh ha-ha" Grayson looked at me he was now sitting on the floor in the hallway inspecting his toe making sure it wasnt broke 

"You're too damn clumsy" Dad said and quietly laughed  "I'm going to start the grill" and he walked back down stairs. 

"Are you okay?" I said getting up and walking in the hall to sit next to him 

"I'm fine, I dont think it's broke but holy frickin hell that hurt" 

"Don't run next time you big cry baby" I once again calmed down the laughing fit that was threating to escape. 

"Ha- Ha so funny" he mocked and leaned in close. My breathing hitched, he quickly pecked my lips and then whispered in a dark tone. 

"You've got three seconds to run" 

I immediatley started laughing and ran down stairs,out into the back yard where dad was. knowing Grayson wasn't going to do anything because dad was back here and just as I thought that.. Grayson ran through open sliding glass doors and I was still trying to stop laughing. 

"I- I- I'm S-Sorry, Dont K-Kill Me" I tried to get out of my mouth and then he ran at me and I darted to the other side of the pool away from him. Dad was standing there hella confused 


"I'm not a cry baby" he jokingly yelled and that made me want to laugh even more, but boy did my laughing stop quick. I started to run around the pool again and I wasn't looking and I ran straight into the water. boy that was fun. I surfaced and dad and Grayson were both laughing, I politley tried to splash them both, but the water only reached Grayson beause he was standing right next to the pool. 

"KARMA!" Grayson yelled and laughed even more. I swam to the steps and got out, and walked over to Grayson and pushed him in. and dad laughed even harder.

Grayson surfaced and he was jokingly giving me a mad glare and I just smiled at him 

"That was so rude!" he said, he was swimming to the ladder on the deep end and getting out.. Dad had finally calmed down enough to tell us to go dry off and get ready for dinner. Me and Grayson both made our way upstairs to dry off and change, Which I already had on a pair of swimming shorts and a tank top but they were soaked so i decided on changing anyways. 

I walked over to my dresser getting new undergarments out and a pair of shorts and then to my closet to get a shirt. I locked my door and quickly changed and put my hair in a messy bun. I look like crap, but this is gonna have to do. I unlocked my door and walked back down to the kitchen where dad was setting out the barbecued chicken, macaroni, and mashed potatos on the table. My favorite! Man he really wanted to go see Addison this weekend.

Grayson entered in the kitchen and sat down at the table next to me. and dad sat across from us. We all grabbed a plate and added food on our plate. It was a very silent dinner until dad brought up Addison. 

"So, Leah, do you remember the other day when I was telling you about Addison? And i was going to fly down there in a few weeks?" 

"Yeah, I don't have a problem with that" I smiled at him 

"Good, thats good, but would you be mad if I flew there this weekend?" I looked up at him, acting like I was shocked to hear the news.

"Um, No, not at all dad, it's great you have Addison in your life, i'm glad you've found someone" I smiled at him and he smiled back 

"Thank you sweetie, I really want to say how blessed I am with you being okay with me seeing someone" he smiled a big smile and I could tell he was happy, 

"Dad, I don't want you to not move on just because of me, I'm genuinely happy you've found someone, and I cant wait to meet her" 

"I'm glad you said that, she can't wait to meet you either. She's thinking about flying back with me when I come home, Which speaking of, I'm not sure how long i'm going to be out there, I don't want to be away from you because I'm always involved with work and staying late" And I cut him off there 

"Dad, You've always done a good job of being there for me and even though you may work late, you still make it up to me by taking me out to dinner, or even this. just us talking like this. I'm glad you told me you were going and being honest about meeting Addison." 

He was smiling and got up to hug me, I walked around to his side of the table and hugged him and we heard a "Click" and we both looked at Grayson and he was smiling at us and holding his phone up, signifying that he took a picture

"Can you take one of us when we're actually looking?" Dad chuckled and Grayson nodded 

"Say Cheeessee!" And Grayson snapped the picture 

"Send those to me please" Dad said as he was sitting back down 

"Me too, Please" I said as I took my seat next to Grayson 

"Sure thing" he spent a few more seconds on his phone and then he laid it back down 

"You should be getting it any second" As on cue, dads phone buzzed and made a "Ting!" noise and he grabbed and smiled 

"Totally my new Screensaver!" he fooled around on his phone some more and then sat it back down. 

"Leah, After dinner do you wanna go, say I don't know, Shopping?" I looked at dad. surprised, he's never offered to take me before, hes always gave me money and told me to get whatever. 

"Of course! It sounds fun!" 

"Grayson, you can tag along if you want" Dad said, looking at Grayson. 

"Sure. Id love to" he smiled at the both of us.

"Thanks dad, for taking me shopping, I'm glad we got to spend some time together." I looked over and he was sound asleep, Along with Grayson, great. I still had a half hour drive and I was the only one awake, Sigh. 

I turned the radio up and sang along the whole half hour, I don't know how I didn't wake dad, or Grayson up. 

"Dad, Grayson, Wake up" I nudged dad and turned around to nudge Grayson, And Grayson woke up, but dad was still very asleep 

I heard Grayson chuckle and say "Leave him"  I turned around and jokingly glared at him 

"Next time you fall asleep in the vehicle i'm just going to "leave you" 

"The back set of your truck is big enough for me to lay in, So im good" He smiled at me. 

I nudged dad again and told him to wake up,no use. So i did what any normal human being would do and told Grayson to cover his ears. Before he could ask why, I turned the radio all the way up,  and dad sprung awake immediately. He glared at me and i just smiled at him. 

"You should have got up the first two times I tried to wake you"

Grayson was sitting speechles in the back seat an then started laughing "That was great!" 

I got out of my truck, grabbed all my shopping bags  and made my way inside. Dad was kinda ticked i woke him up like that, but hey, You should have got up the first two times, am I right?  or am I right? 

I went upstairs and barged in my room, sitting all my bags on the floor, I flopped on my bed and instantly fell asleep.
