Sarah and I waited for River's call before pulling up to the country club. I hate it here.
"Ready?" Sarah asked.
I nodded, "Time to go mack on a Kook." I rolled my eyes. The last person I wanted to flirt with was Rafe Cameron. But it was all part of the plan.
Sarah and I walked into the cafe, talking about gossip we didn't actually care about. As we walked by Rafe's table, I stopped and turned my attention to him, "Hey." I said softly, "What are you doing?"
He sat back, irritation on his face, "I guess having dinner by myself."
"Where's River?" I deadpanned. I needed to make it seem as if I liked him.
"She left. She found out about us on the beach and I think she broke up with me." He replied.
"Wow, I'm sorry. I didn't think she would find out." I stepped closer to Rafe.
"It's whatever. Clearly, it wasn't working if I was sneaking around with you." He smirked at me.
"Let's hang out. Tomorrow." I blurted.
"Kie. River is my friend." Sarah chastised, grabbing my arm.
"She's not my friend." I told her.
Rafe nodded, "Sure. You can come over to my place."
"I'll text you." I smiled and turned back to Sarah.
"You're an asshole." Sarah told Rafe, scoffing.
She turned to walk over to our table. I glanced over at Topper, who had witnessed the whole interaction. The plan was working.
"Wow, Sarah. You really are running around with Pogues." Topper called to Sarah as we walked by.
"Bite me, Topper." I shot back at him.
He rolled his eyes, then turned them back to Rafe. You could see the gears turning in his head.
I pulled out my phone and pulled up River's contact.
