Harry woke up feeling so good he almost thought he would wake up in his bed in Grimmauld Place, but a quick glance at the black fur beside him told him he wouldn't. He immediately remembered he was in the Leaky Cauldron, Snouts seemed to be waking up because of him as he was starting to stretch, nudging him.
"Hey mate, this is my bed," he complained, gently tapping his side, he just snorted, "I'll leave you locked in the trunk one of these days," he shook his head, "I'll ask Kreacher to bring you food, it would look weird if I bought meats and my ration too, the last thing I need is scrutiny," he sighed and pulled in Snuffles who didn't make a fuss to be pet, "And I'll have to leave you here more than you'll get out buddy, most wizards are a bunch of superstitious arseholes, and you look more like a Grim, well, you are, so you'll have to stay here longer," he clicked his tongue, "I'll try to keep my forays brief, but people need to see a bit of me at least."
Snuffles barked and then licked his cheek as an 'okay, I understand'.
"Thanks for understanding," he sighed, nuzzling behind Snuffles' ears, "And you'd better go to the trunk when I'm gone, I know they come in for cleaning, better no one see you, plus I can easily get a visit from my aunt and uncle, ugh, another thing to ask Kreacher."
He was whining like a child, but he let himself, a dog was the only one to see him and he was supposed to be a child still. There was a lot to do and his family would hit the roof if they found out that Harry took another dangerous creature into his care (Hagrid's dragon, his family's basilisk and now a Grim), he didn't stay permanently with the first two, the basilisk couldn't be transported, but the Grim slept with him, Walburga wouldn't like that at all.
"Well, it was you who took him in," he reminded herself aloud, "Kreacher, if you could please come."
He waited a moment, he knew the elf would be waiting to obey as quietly as possible.
Snuffles looked at him oddly and seemed tense until the sound of apparition came.
"Master Harry," the elf replied, "The Masters were keeping an eye on Kreacher."
"I guessed as much," he sighed, "Have they asked for me yet?"
"The Mistress is ecstatic that you've done something to the muggles and says she'll give them a piece of her mind." He counted with a smile.
"Good." He smirked.
"And they know where you are," he informed him, "Master Orion was at the Ministry when the news came through that the Minister found you."
"Shit," he cursed with a growl, "And what was my uncle doing at the Ministry? Finding out about my uncle?"
"The Masters are coming to see you." He answered him, dodging his question.
"When?" he asked, annoyance growing in his being, he was still furious.
"As soon as they stop watching them," the elf informed, "They asked me to come monitor you today and warn you, they are keeping an eye on the family, in case Master Sirius contacts them for shelter or they seek him out."
"Fuck," he growled, "That means they're monitoring the whole family, right?"
"Yes," the elf stated, "And you can't do a blood search yourself."
"Why do you think I would?" He asked innocently, not noticing the dog's curious look.
"Because you're a Black." He replied, closing his eyes in his direction, forgetting that his masters didn't want their son to know that yet.
"Guilty." He grinned.
He held back the curses out loud, of course they were monitoring Black blood, a single drop of blood magic from a Black close to Sirius to do a family search and the Ministry would be on their back to see the result, it would be the easiest way to find him and to do so would be stupid, more so if Harry wanted to keep his Black ancestry in the dark.
