In the original show, the most powerful/'well-known' 'tribes' are as followed.
Daybreakers - a survival group formed following the initiation of the apocalypse. They were formed as an opposition group against The Jocks.
The Jocks - filled with athletes - strong, fast, and determined to be the most powerful of the tribes.
The Cheermazons are a survivor group formed following the nuclear explosion. In order to pass as a member of the Cheermazons, one must pass the gauntlet; a series of three tests. The Cheermazons are an elite and feared all-women group among the tribes.
There are other minor tribes that work for/with the other tribes, or even stragglers who hide on their own, or in small groups which aren't considered tribes.
