Chapter 9

Spencer's POV:

"I don't know I heard that the kid on this team is a fag." They laughed. A couple of days later we had a game at home and I stood just around the corner from the opposing team biting my finger.

"Who is it?" They asked.

"The pitcher." He responded and I almost growled until I heard a voice.

"Hey, shut the fuck up." Tessa said angrily.

"Tess?" One asked.

"You heard me Daniel. You and your friend can shut your mouths. If I hear you say that word again about my brother I will shove my foot so far up your ass you will taste the gum on the bottom of my shoe." She said angrily.

"Me too." Jaxon said.

"And us..." Connor said gesturing to him, Ryan and Derek.

"Woah...we didn't mean anything." He denied.

"You better. Threaten an Andrews again and you won't live to see another day." She warned and I smiled.

"You ok?" She asked turning the corner as I tossed a baseball up and down in the air.

"The usual." I shrugged and she sighed heavily.

"Don't let it get to you Spence." Jax said patting my shoulder.

"Just go out there and kill it. We will be in the stands." Connor smiled. I nodded and they left and I rolled the ball in my hands.

"Trouble in paradise?" Someone asked. I turned and Dean let out a puff of smoke.

"My life isn't paradise, Dean."

"It isn't? You are the biggest pack, biggest house...best family. What else could you need?" He mused.

"A normal life without people calling me a fag." I said angrily. He sighed silently and looked down.

"Don't worry about it."

"I can't. I do worry about it." I said.

"Well just let it go for once. Don't worry what people say." He said annoyed.

"It might be easy for you. It is not for me."

"It's not easy for me." He snapped and I turned.

"Do you think I like people saying that stuff about my mate? About what is mine? They are mocking what is mine and I hate it. I would probably have killed them. But I know if I did that you would have hated me."

"You don't need to fuss over me." I mumbled and he let out a large breath.

"I do. Like I said you're mine." He said standing fairly close to me. He was about an inch taller than me. He smirked down at me and laughed.

"Get me a strike or whatever." He said turning and I laughed.

"A home run?" I asked chuckling.

"Just get me something." He called walking out.

------

I cracked my elbow on the mound and took a deep breath.

"Go Spence!" Ella yelled from the stands smiling. I smiled slightly and looked over to the side to see Dean leaning against a pole smoking. He always had a cigarette in his mouth.

I shook my head and readied for the pitch. I brought my leg up and let the ball slip from my grasp and straight past the batter. People cheered and I smiled catching the ball.

"Strike one!" The umpire yelled.

I rolled the ball in my hand and brought my leg up again before letting the ball go past him again.

"Strike two!" He yelled.

"Let's go Spence! Woo!" Tess yelled clapping. I caught the ball and let out a fast ball that struck the batter out.

"Strike three! You're out!" He yelled. People clapped and I smiled and glanced over at Dean who smiled approvingly.

The team we were facing was below us by four places so we blew them out of the water. Strike after strike. My fast ball was on point today, the most it has been all season.

As I went into the dug out coach patted my shoulder.

"Is someone special watching you today?" He grinned.

"You could say that." I smiled.

"Well they better come to every game so you can keep pitching like that!" I smiled and grabbed my bag and took off my cleats before heading into the parking lot.

"That's was entertaining." Dean said leaning against my truck.

"You actually watched?" I asked surprised.

"Yep. All the innings." He said surprised as well.

"I'm surprised." I laughed.

"Yea well you look good in baseball pants." He shrugged as I threw my stuff in the back.

"Spence?" Someone called. I turned and my mom smiled.

"Great game, baby." She said rubbing my upper arm, dad nodded approvingly and then she turned to Dean.

"And who is this?" She asked.

"This is-"

"Dean Storm, Ms. Andrews. I'm a friend of Spencer." He said politely shaking her hand.

"Very nice to meet you Dean. I'm Brooklyn and this is Ryder." She smiled.

"Alpha Ryder. A pleasure." He said shaking my dads hand.

"Nice to meet you, Dean." My dad said.

"Alright well we will meet you back at home alright?" Mom asked and I nodded as she left the parking lot.

"You know how to be polite?" I asked.

"Of course I do. I am a future alpha after all. I have to know proper civil manners." He said.

"Your parents don't approve?" He asked.

"My mom does. My dad is still a little unsure." I admitted.

"Ah, I see. He will come around Spence." He assured and I nodded.

"You are a little unsure as well." He mused. I looked up and stumbled.

"N-no I'm not." I mumbled. He stepped closer and smirked.

"Yes you are."

"I am not." I said annoyed.

"Yes you are." He teased.

"Fine. So what if I am?" I asked.

"Then I have to make you sure."

"How?" I asked. He sighed and grabbed my face and pressed his lips to mine. I have kissed girls before but never a guy. It was kind of odd, he controlled everything. He grabbed the belt loop of my pants and pulled my body closer as he kept one hand steady on my neck and shoulder.

Finally he pulled back and smirked.

"There. There is more where that came from. If you are sure." He teased and I stood stunned.

"That good, huh?" He chuckled.

"Well...yea." I admitted.

"Of course it was. I'm your mate. I make everything better." He said cockily.
