Nick and Ells loved each other very much. They had taken lots of steps with their relationship. They've gotten into several arguments that have ended in both of them making up. Nick thought it was time to ask Ells the big question. It had been 5 years.
He knew that she was "the one". He knew he had to ask for Jethro's blessing first. He wanted to hear his opinion. He also really respected him and didn't want to mess anything up between them. Ells and Nick really haven't talked about the subject of marriage but he didn't think that really mattered. All that mattered was that she was ready.
