"When are we going to tell them?!" Nicholas hissed, "The Alliance Dinner is in two days, father, we can't keep them in the dark any longer!"

Howard didn't reply, standing beside the window, looking outside, his fingers itching for a cigarette.

"Don't you think I know that, Nicholas? You're right, it can't be delayed any longer. So, how are you planning on disclosing this? By telling them that we break the law for a living? How should that conversation go?" Howard mused, while Nicholas coughed awkwardly.

"I planned on telling them the reason their mother left in the first place. It might be hard to accept it, as Clarissa was, well, their mother, but the truth isn't going to change itself. We'll just have to be cautious and slowly ease them into knowing and accepting the business. Promise me, father, you won't force them to join." Nicholas said, and Howard looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Have I ever done that to anyone before, Nicholas? I'll be accepting whatever they choose, they're family. If only Clarissa didn't work for the Spanish Mafia, none of this would've happened." Howard sighed and Nicholas looked guilty.

Nicholas knew that he was at fault here, he had been weak in the past, and now his whole family was paying for his mistakes.

"We'll be telling them tomorrow at dinner. Hope everything goes well. Anyway, right now, we should go prepare for the Alliance Dinner, son." Howard added and walked out, leaving Nicholas deep in thought.

Go work, you idiot.

I closed my laptop as the bell rang, indicating the end of the period, as I walked out of the library.

Howard was a rational leader, that could easily be seen in the decesions he made, while Nicholas was more emotionally driven, which made him weak in our world.
