It was past 10 when the two of us arrived and neither of us were tired, too hyped up on adrenaline to be tired in any way.

Everyone else seemed energetic too, congratulating Kai as soon as he walked into his house. Everyone was eager, his parents smothering him with hugs and kisses, telling him how proud they were. I joined his friends where they sat on his sofa.

"How was private time with your crush?" Taehyun whispered as stealthily as possible.

"You know what, I'm in a good mood right now, so I won't punch you in the arm, but I'm greatly considering it," I warned him, not even sparing him a side glance.

"Must've been good if you're in such a good mood that you won't punch Taehyun," Beomgyu snickered.

I ignored their antics, which was slightly harder because it would be weird to ask Soobin for help with Chemistry. Even with that tactic it was hard to get them to stop teasing me.

Eventually Kai sat down beside me, squishing in between me and the arm of the sofa. His parents sat down on a second small sofa right near the bigger one we all sat on.

They began to tell stories of Kai from his childhood. Stories about him learning instruments and playing games and singing for them. It all sounded adorable. One thing I noticed was that Kai's dad gestures with both hands, just like Kai.

As the stories were being told, my adrenaline wore off. That feeling of being awake from not so long ago had faded and the amount of work I did during the day was getting to me. I found it difficult to keep my eyes open. My head moved side to side, swaying gently as my eyes slowly moved shut. I would always try my best to stay awake, opening my eyes widely to try and wake myself but nothing worked. I thought I could just close my eyes to rest them for a few seconds but that turned into me dozing off, only to be awoken when everyone laughed at something. I pretended to know what was happening and laugh along, pretending that I was awake the whole time, and eventually the cycle would always begin again until finally, I drifted off to sleep.

It was a dreamless sleep and it felt like I had only been asleep for five minutes. It was calm and peaceful and I was comfortable. I really didn't want to move. I felt heavy and warm and just overall comfortable.

I was awoken by the harsh buzzing of my phone. My eyes opened quickly. I tried to survey the situation and in a matter of seconds, I was flustered. There my head rest on Kai's shoulder, with everyone watching. I immediately moved my head from his shoulder, obviously startling him. I grabbed my phone from my lap to see my moms name on the display. I quickly excused myself to take the call and I stepped outside.

  "Hello?" I answered.

"Are you not coming home yet? It's almost 1 in the morning."

I had previously texted my mother that I would hang out at Kai's house and she said it was okay, but to message her when I was on my way home.

When she said that it was almost 1 in the morning, I was surprised. I even took the phone away from my ear to confirm. Indeed it was almost 1 in the morning. I felt so discombobulated because I had just woken up, and I really thought it had only been 10 minutes.

"Not yet. Do you want me home? If you want me home, I can leave now," I responded quickly.

"Please. I've been waiting for you to come home so I can sleep," she told me. I could hear the fatigue in her voice. She must've been struggling to stay awake, just as I was.

"I'm on my way now, mom. I'll be there soon," I told her, getting ready to hang up.

"Be careful. It's late," she warned me.
